We all know we have a big problem at centre-back, and although O'Dea does okay, his mistakes always seem to cost us goals. So with this issue killing us, surely O'Brien needs to step up to the plate now. If ever he wanted to prove his commitment to the Whites now is the time. Is he banging on the manager's door demanding to play or is he happy hiding in training hoping he doesn't get selected? Paul Robinson will be a lot better than Pugh who's form has gone backwards with each game this season, but surely Colin must now be moving to get a centre-back in on loan asap. Mills was rumoured to have been given the choice to join Leeds, but the silence means he wants to stay at Leicester, although this deal may still happen if Pearson can't resolve his issue with Mills. Is it possible Papa Smurf may well be willing to back Warnock financially? I think it could well happen, after all Robinson's wages won't be small, even if we are only paying 50% of it. Warnock's track record of success will demand investment, and I think we will see a lot of changes to the squad in the Summer. Colin has slated the players publicly as not good enough, so they know they are playing for their lives now to stay at the biggest club they will ever have the chance of playing for. Interesting times ahead, but get us a centre-back for the rest of the season please.
Regretfully I don't think we'll see any changes at CB other than AOB possibly being on the bench tonight. Given his performance against Leicester, I would like to see him at CB with Lees. But looks as though we're stuck with O'Dea. If he doesn't play again this season, it'll be at least 2 CBs to move on excluding O'Dea who I think will be returned to Celtic regardless of who else goes.
When O'Dea makes a mistake he does seem to have the ability to put it behind him. I would have to question AOB and his mental state of mind. It would not be easy for AOB to have both away fans chanting about recent past events and it wouldn't be good either have 20,000 Leeds fans losing their temper the moment he slipped up.
Given every other "performance" he's failed to put in this season, I would like to see him booted out of the club.
Iqbal, Defar ho jow, which is phonetically written Urdu. Against Leicester & with his head clearly in the right place, he stopped absolutely everything Leicester threw at us. We'll never know the full story of what happened afterwards. But he's good enough, & with his head on straight, he's certainly better than O'Dea.
Interesting stuff, guys, but in Warnock I trust. By that, I mean that we have an excellent manager, and one who knows EXACTLY what is available to him. It's not by chance that O'Dea is still playing. Gawd knows what the reasoning is, but he's putting out the best team he can, under the circumstances. AOB still has a funny smell about him, to my mind, & I think Colin can smell it too.
I think O'Brien is worth another chance. Suffering depression myself I feel for the guy, and based on the recent passing of Gary Speed, I doubt he'd get away with lying about it as an excuse for being a prick. With his head on straight he's the best centre back we've got and together with Lees could really contribute.
Marko, if he is indeed suffering from depression, then you'll know that he'll probably have good spells and bad spells. Not exactly reliable when the chips are down (which they are atm). Also, I would be surprised if he has 'got his head straight' in such a short period, but I admit I'm no medical expert. If he is lying, then there's no-one in football that will challenge him because of the Speedo situation. Who would take the change of being hounded by the press with such an accusation? Either way, we can't rely on him 100%, week in week out.
Never suffered serious depression myself. But I can understand that its one illness that requires careful handling & managing. I'm with Best though, AOB at his best is way better than O'dea. Bruce/Bromby are also both better than O'Dea, but unfortunately are apparently both injured/recovering.
EVER THOUGHT THAT depression was not the real reason I think that lies with Simon FROM WHAT i WAS TOLD by people close to the club depression sounded better
That's what it smelled like to me, L60. My source is a friend of a friend barman (often to the players), so not the best source.
