Winning the carling cup is not automatic route to Europe, so Liverpool have to get the 4th place or win the FA cup, if we cannot get any of these we need the 5th position in the league. There is a play off for carling cup holder, and that is early season also.May have to cancel US tour. Players the ball is in your court.!
I'm pretty sure winning the carling cup gives us a Europa league spot, we will need 4th for the CL, but thats looking difficult now. I'd be more than happy with an FA cup victory but that will get us no further in terms of europe.
We have as you say got a Europa spot through our CC Cup win,but it is the lowest valued Europa spot. And unless we finish 4th(not much if any chance of that)or win the FA Cup which both have higher rankings in the competition our 1st game in the Europa League qualifying rounds will be on August the 2nd before the season starts.
CC give you Knockout stage Football Association rules stipulate that the League Cup winner gets automatic entry into the qualifying rounds for the following season's Europa League tournament. it prevents joke friendlies and hopeless tours disrupting preseason it will give us league one opposition to bring in sterling and coady as well as flanangan and robinson we can be focused on the league day one not just scraping to be ready we're in the europa end of.... to make it a non arsenal season (i.e over by feb) we need to keep going in both comps as much as we can. as we also know being one game per week from now in is a pain and boring. I'm looking forward to it TBH. also being in europa qualies is good; why?
Oh dribbling. I have been with the lady CEO of a dignostics company. We had lunch. Revert to the banter thread for more insight. I will post in detail there soon
Being a very wise man you were wearing protection.. so no worry in that respect. We look forward for the result. You should be okay.
To be honest 4th is out of reach but we should still aim for it to gain the maximum points possible. However we should also use this time to blood in a couple of youngsters, e.g. while Agger is currently injured we should be playing Coates instead of the 'safe' option of Carra. I also hope to see Sterling given a run out, i hear he was dangerous in the 'mini derby' his finishing just wasn't up to scratch
Completely agree with this. I read the other day that Carragher said about he's just not ready for retirement yet and he wants to stay at LFC for a few more years. I was hoping he wouldn't come out with something like this because if I'm honest when he's on the pitch I'm always on edge (Look back to the Arsenal game). Although if I remember correctly I think I remember reading this on Daily Fail
It will be very interesting to watch Kenny's team selection from now until the end of the season. However, whilst we remain in the FA Cup, I would not expect to see him take too many chances.
yeah i agree and have high hopes for the FA cup but we are in a rebuilding process so what better time than now to introduce new players into the mix
Kenny's mantra since the start of the season has always been to amass as many points as possible and "see where we are then". I don't see him changing that. This season has been very strange in the way that it has panned-out and I think there will be more twists and turns before the season ends. Thereare still no givens as to who will gain 4th - even 3rd may now come into question.
Although Kenny didn't get much choice most of the time, we played a lot of youngsters towards the end of last season when we didn't have much to play for - Flanno, Robbo, Shelvey, Spearing, etc
