Jose Mourinho - Jose has stated many times this season that he wants to leave Real Madrid in the summer to join the premier league and said he would like to coach Chelsea again. Also four days before the sacking of AVB Mourinho was spotted in London specifically the Chelsea area buying a new house.

Pep Guardiola - Pep could quit Barcelona for a new challenge.

Rafael Benitez - he has been out of a job since 2010 and Rafa is interested in the Chelsea job.

Fabio Capello - After being sacked from the England job the Italian could return to club management.

Sven Goran Eriksson - Out of work.

Gianfranco Zola - Seems that he did a pretty good Job at West Ham considering where they are now. Out of work.

David Moyes - Moyes might be tempted making the next step up from Everton.

Mick Mcarthy - Out of job since being sacked from Wolves.

Whoever takes it on will have a hell of a job. Seems the "lads" will be getting the flick at seasons end, so the new guy will be starting from absolute scratch.Even if a shed load of new players arrive, it usually takes half a season at least to get a new team running smoothly, aka Man City.
Will be interesting to see how patient our top end are if it's not going brilliantly from the off.

Apart from Jose and Hiddink--the only other candidate I'd be happy with is Brendan Rodgers! In the meantime Robbie and Eddie might produce a good argument for being kept on ! I can dream--can't I?

Whilst Lamps,Drogba and Cole are there no one has much chance.I believe Lamps to the biggest culprit though so maybe showing him the door will get Cole in line.

A lot of the older players Drogba, Malouda, Lampard & Cole should have been axed last summer to make way for the next generation. This is where AVB made his mistake. He practically went no where in terms of revolutionizing the squad. I think the club made the right decision of sacking Andre Villas-Boas looking back at the results 5th place is not good enough for us. Have to admit though I was torn between keeping AVB to build his own squad or have a new manager in Mourinho. But the board weren't going to wait untill the summer since the defeat to West Brom summed up AVB's season. Mourinho or Guardiola are the only managers capable of keeping the players in control.

Seems weird, don't you think, that AVB didn't just throw the sods out the door ?? You would have to think that RA wouldn't allow this to happen, but if so, why are people now saying it's what he should have done to keep his job !!! Sure would have made his life easier, but then there would have been the problem of enough players. Seems to me things were set up so he couldn't win whichever way he went. Something doesn't smell right here. It was an almost impossible task to transform the team AND produce results from players who were not 100% committed to anything except screwing the governor. RA allegedly bollocked the players, but only the manager got the shaft.
However , in his favour, he not only got the shaft, he also got the gold mine, and good luck to him.
Could it be that Jose made it known to RA that he fancied another stint with CFC ??? Not looking for a conspiracy here, just that something is not quite straight in the explanations we have been given.

The sacking of AVB was on the cards, i for one wish he had of gone sooner he fugged up so many times with his starting 11 and his substitutions were absolutely diabolical. For fugg sake against Napoli he leaves Super Frank the Bison AND Cole on the bench, now we have a mountain to climb trying to finish at least 4th in the league, over turn the result against Napoli and stay in the FA cup, Napoli were there for the taking imo they were crap and if AVB had played Frank,Essien and Cole from the off then i feel we would of come away with at least a draw, the man was totally out of his depth.

Theres too many people writing Super Frankie off he's been playing in a crap team yet he's STILL managed to come up with 12 goals and at the moment he's our leading goal scorerer, all you doubters get off his back

    Brendan Rodgers:

""There is so much going for Chelsea - it's a terrific club. But you can't continue doing what they do and have success. It does not work. The next manager who goes in there will have the same problems and issues. It's a big job and demanding job - that's how it is at the big clubs and that's why the salaries are so high. It's certainly going to be interesting to see what route they go down now."

I've a lot of time for BR! He could have been a possible future manager--but it has come too early for him! Gaurdiola seems to have leapt out of the frame now! Anyway whoever it is wont be around until summer! Til then we have to avoid the drop into the Championship!

I'd give the job to Grant before I'd give it to Mourinho . It was Mourinho that divided the team through " Untouchables " & others . You could feel a sigh of relieve throughout the entire squad when Grant came in & let the team run itself . It ran pretty good to & I was a bit surprised when the team was taken from him by the Russian . Just an opinion !

Drogba's the main culprit for me!

I'd love to see a Zola/Clarke partnership. If not, David Moyes!
    Glenn Hoddle for England!

Let's run through some of the names here.

There is more chance of me being on the shortlist than of Guardiola being the next Chelsea manager. If he quits Barcelona, it's because he's fed up of management and wants to take 2-3 years out of football.

My opinion is that Mourinho wants the Manchester United job one day. That said, he is a realistic candidate.

Benitez would take a similar approach to AVB, and in my opinion isn't as good a long term prospect. The only plausible reason for considering him is if you intend to build the team around Torres.

No chance of Capello. If he didn't like the levels of interference at England, he wouldn't dream of even talking to Abramovich.

Sven is a realistic candidate and in my opinion would be an interesting interim appointment. He has a track record of getting teams to where they should be in a short space of time. I don't think he's the man to build a dynasty, but I think he could lay genuine foundations.

I don't think Zola shone as West Ham manager, I just think he was better than Avram Grant. I see him as no better a permanent appointment than Di Matteo.

My question mark over David Moyes is whether he can simultaneously get rid of the old guard and immediately improve results. He is more than capable of being Chelsea's Alex Ferguson, but the reality of football and of Chelsea is that he's not going to get four or five years to slowly and steadily build in his image.

Mick McCarthy is one of the most underrated managers around, but is not a serious candidate because calling a spade a spade would get him into trouble with Mr Abramovich fairly quickly.

I don't have a lot of time for BR as a person, but respect his ability to turn things around quickly. Lest we forget, this is the man who took over Aidy Boothroyd's off-form hoofball team and in the space of three months had us successfully playing his "pass them to death" brand of football. If he is a serious candidate, I don't really see what he has to learn. The only thing he hasn't done is learn how to handle the egos of players on £150k a week, and he's not going to get any experience of that at Swansea.

Watford--As a managerial apprentice throughout his football career at Chelsea, and before he was promoted to his first PL appointment at Swansea, he spent most of his working day with the "ego boys". They never fazed him. He is in my opinion, a very good operator and manager, who I predict will be a leading light in the English PL in years to come!
