Could do both? Saints and Non-Saints if you wish, although I imagined it as Saints

I think that's the idea. Also. although my favourite player is undoubtedly Matt Le Tiss, he played in an era that isn't my favourite. That was Lawrie's time, and I'm still trying to figure out who my favourite player was from that era. There are so many.

That's not the idea, now is it.

    He wants you to put:

    Favourite Era: early 1980s
Favourite Player: Steve Moran [I'm still changing my mind on this, myself]
Why: The Lad loved scoring so much, he couldn't contain himself. Brilliant poacher.

We were pretty ****e overall in the 90s so i can't say that was my favourite era.

    Probably for me;

    Favourite era: early 2000s
    Favourite player: James Beattie
Why: absolute beast up top and I have hazy yet fond memories as a kid watching his classic penalty routine....

Era : 90's Le tissier was class !
We may have been struggling at times but we always seemed to unearth a gem (not including matty)
Outside that, The Newcastle team with Albert,Ginola & Asprilla were great to watch.

I think the early 80's still nick it from the present era for me but it's getting close. Keegan, Moran, Channon etc were a joy to watch.

Yes I think I'm with you and TSS on this at the moment:

    Era - Early 80s
    Player - Keegan
Why - Best ever disallowed goal

    Era - 90's
    Player - Matt Le Tissier
Why - Every week there was a goal of the season contender. Also could be argued that there was a period of a couple of years where he was the best player in Britain / Europe.

Blimey, I thought Beddy was the oldest on here!

    For me:

Lawrie's era; player of course Channon; why? If you have to ask you didn't see him. Top class, electric pace and he LOVED playing for us.

Having said that there are players in the current team who are pushing Saint Mick in my affections. Lambert for sheer skill and enthusiasm (those volleys against Watford and Leeds would have had any of our greats purring); Morgan because he is Morgan; Lallana for being so loyal and so bloody good ... and of course Lord Kelvin of Leeds!

Thanks TSS I was right behind Keegan when he hit that. Brilliant stuff! It says something when the current players are giving me that same sense of confidence and enjoyment. Long may it continue!

I was in my, by then, traditional position of being to the right of the goal, as you look, about halfway to the player's entrance. The ball actually dipped and curved beautifully. Of course, these days, it would have counted.
