AVB's sacking is proof of the mad Russian's failure!

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Mar 4, 2012.

  1. It was inevitable the minute he signed his appointment as manager that AVB would be sacked. That's what happens to Chelsea managers. It's part of the job spec. The mad Russian oligarch tells you, "I want you to deliver me the impossible, or you will be sacked!" and true to his word, when the manager fails to deliver the impossible, he is sacked. The only startling aspect of AVB's sacking is the fact that the mad Russian appointed him in the first place, especially on such a huge salary, and the speed at which his demise eventually came.

There will now be talk of getting Mourhino back in the job, but would he really want to go there, now? Clearly, the big spending days are over, what with the imminent introduction of the fair play rules, and without a huge investment of cash this Chelsea side is going to flounder for many seasons to come. Why would Mourhino want to take a backwards step? Indeed, what manager, who didn't have to take the risk, would want to?

That's why the mad Russian will go for someone like Benitez. He's a manager who was once great and who is now desperate to find a club big enough to support his ego. The trouble for Benitez, though, is that the mad Russian is a far greater despot than anyone he has worked for before, and Chelsea's squad is no where near as good as the one that he failed to inspire at LFC. Failure for Benitez at Chelsea is absolutely guaranteed.

If offered the job, Benitez will be desperate enough to take it, and when he fails to deliver the impossible he will be sacked. Giving him 12 months to last in the job would be generous.

What is ironic in all of this, for me, is that when the mad Russian took over with his countless billions, the Chavs couldn't believe their luck! At last, they were able to buy the glory that they all so desperately craved! But now, the mad Russian is the very reason why they will achieve nothing!

If you want to last at Chelsea, your first three actions should be...
    1.) Transfer list John Terry
    2.) Transfer list Frank Lampard
    3.) Transfer list Didier Drogba

  6. ...and when you have your very first interview with the mad Russian that's exactly what you should tell him you will be doing, with the ultimatum. "It's me or them!"

I rather sense that, with the mad Russian, one has to get one's ultimatums in right from the very start.

I can't see why no manager has come in and got shot of Terry and Lampard by now - it's easy to draft in players that are on their level ability wise that are five or so years younger (and presumably without the wage demands or general baggage those two have), and if they both moved to Man City you'd receive enough money to pay for their replacements and maybe one or two other players, plus their disruptive influence will be dumped into the Etihad.

It's bizarre that no Chelsea manager has though of career longevity by getting rid of them, yet other managers of other clubs all have. For example, Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton ruled the dressing room at Newcastle, and Pardew kept them until the end of the season for stability's sake, then got shot of both of them in the summer and the team hasn't missed them. Similar can be said of Fabio Capello at Real Madrid shipping out Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos (which meant Raul lost his two comrades in the dressing room), which makes his pandering to Terry as England manager that much stranger.

Roman's main issue is that he doesn't have the tolerance for long-term planning. Rather than thinking of the next three seasons he takes each season as it comes, which explains the shoddy treatment of Ancelotti last summer, which is no way to run a business, let alone a football club.

I heard mention of Guardiola's name, albeit copied and pasted onto the BBC gossip page.
Or was it the England job?
Or was it anything but wishful thinking?

The thing about the Chelsea job is you can't see too many top coaches wanting it, as their reputations will doubtless be damaged once they're sacked for failing to come up with what Roman deems to be "the goods" - Scolari being the extreme example of this. In some ways, it is a good job for an up-and-coming coach because if they succeed it looks good on their CV, but if they fail they can move on to a new job and cite the unique pressures of the Chelsea job as something that impaired their learning curve. If an experienced coach (let's say Capello for now) took the job and was sacked PDQ, it's a stain on their CV because the expectation is they should be able to control the various factors from above and in the dressing room.

Apparently expressing an opinion of Villas-Boas' sacking makes you obsessed with Chelsea. So I guess every newspaper and every sports website is obsessed as well?

true say Croydon..so its best if we just wind them up a bit on their board..i dont understand there arrogance anyway..what makes them think they deserve a top class manager having had all the top dogs in the last 9 years and mistreating them..really who would want to manage such a club.
