    Gambol in talking sense shocker

This is what most of us think but Celtic fans seem to think we've been saying they need us and everyone need us. Celtic don't need Rangers to survive, thats obvious but without Rangers theres no competition or rivalry which is what sells season tickets. If Celtic fans can live without the rivalry then fair enough but for me no other game could match the excitement of an old firm game

Win the League 3 years on the trot

Champions League / Qualifiers each year

Sky contract not up til 2017

Yeah, they'd be hard done by !

Another SPL team would step up as rivals ...

Maybe Mad Vlad would relish the challenge of pushing Celtic for the title - might stick around and invest. As it was, he knew there was no chance with Rangers around and spending cash ...

Few decent signings and Hearts would have a strong team!

Our Dundee United for that matter ...

7,000+ empty seats for champions elect on course for the treble, that's with your biggest (only) rivals in the league. Imagine the stadium without us in the league? Who's going to pay 500 quid to watch their team stroll to 2,3,4 nil victories every week? Who would want to play in that team?

How did Celtic get on on Saturday? Did we stroll to a 2,3 or 4 Nil win?

In the absence of Rangers - in my opinion - other team will step up to fill the void!

With Hearts and Dundee United taking a leap forward and vying for top stop spot with Celtic, Scottish football would be in a stronger position by the time Rangers made it back!

We may see a more open title chase with Celtic Hearts n Dundee United (then Rangers) all closely fighting for the top positions rather than the two horse procession it's become.

Increased competition for title, increased competition for the champions league places, increased competition for the europa league places and increased competion in the cups...

    Sounds good to me!

no but were you playing at home? you will always get a good away support, I'm talking about parkhead. It's a huge stadium. I cant see 60,000 people turning up to watch your team win at a canter every week especially when there's no-one to gloat to. The league will be wrapped up before xmas, excuse the pun, and then they'll be even LESS people turning up.

you seem to think we want to liquidate in some sort of perverse way just to see you follow us down the pan. Trust me WE DONT! as the big man said, the big hoose must stay open!!!

Hopefully with some CL money (even if the go out in the first qualifier) Motherwell's fans will turn out in force and increase their revenue, next season should see a real ding dong between Hearts, Dundee Utd, Motherwell etc fighting over a CL place. That should be more than enough to guarantee a more competitive SPL even if celtic are miles in front.

So when Rangers were romping to 9IAR did the attendences increase or decrease from the heady days of the early 80s when you struggled to get 5,000 at a home game?

Exactly, Motherwell and Aberdeen at that time were far better than Celtic and pushed Rangers on more than one occasion. Celtic's weakness was manna from heaven for them, same as it would be if Rangers reboot in Div3.

have a look at the league tables. I would do it but I got caught ****ing about on facebook there and need to sneak on here on the fly now. I'm pretty sure were run close a good few times <ok>

it was no cake walk plus we had old firm games (very competitive ones at that)

Back then though, we had decent teams and players and decent crowds. Aberdeen were attracting Dutch internationals, Motherwell's CF was playing a starring role at the WC with Oirland.

    Now it's all ****e.

You were and there is no reason to suggest that if Rangers are out of the equation that it would it be equally competitive in seasons to come. Celtic sensing easy SPL title wins may rein in their spending and allow the other teams to close the gap in terms of squad quality and push us like they did Rangers in the 90s.
