That's not the only thing they've won over the last 6 years though so you know...

    Why "6" years mate?

When Utd won it its plain to see how important it was to the club.

I'd rather be in the CL, than battling it out with the likes of WBA, Stoke and Norwich for 7th/8th place.

I'd rather win trophies than fuss about where we are in the league. If it's not first then it's irrelevant. If we can win trophies and finish high up the table then that's even better. When was the last time you won something? Are you all back behind Wenger now you look likely to win the 4th place trophy? I lose track on your lot's stance on Wenger since it changes week in week out. Yo-yo fans or what.

So all other 19 clubs in the premier league are failures because they don't finish first? <doh>
You'd rather win trophies and finish high up the table. Well congrats, you've just won the tin pot trophy and you're ten points behind us and in danger of falling behind the likes of WBA Stoke and Norwich. I would be gutted if I were in your position, trophy or none.
I'd rather finish high up the table, play in the best club competition Europe has to offer, attract better players, make more money and rebuild in the summer where we can have a go at winning proper trophies.
At least most Arsenal fans aren't deluded into think we're something special. We're going through one of the worst seasons in living memory and we're still ahead of you.
I guess success is all a matter of perspective innit?

No I'm saying the difference of a few places means pretty much nothing except bragging rights. But bragging rights for what? no other place than first wins you a trophy, so it's a bit pathetic.

Well if it's the "taking part" that counts then fair enough but no point getting excited over a competition you're never going to win. And you aren't going to win the CL in the next 10 years that's for sure and neither are we.

Your hissy fits when you were out of the CL spots says otherwise. The fact you think you're entitled to 4th year in year out stinks of delusion.

As were we during Rafas final year, and do you know what? Things continued to get worse after that and even now we're still picking up the pieces and rebuilding. Don't go thinking you're out of the woods yet. Even if you do manage to scrape 4th I can see RVP still leaving without a doubt and once again you will not invest a positive net spend in your team. Fact.

So, as I was saying, for all your "competing", what have you actually won in the last seven (soon to be 8) years? Nothing that's what. Perhaps you'll get a trophy for that.

Red, you're right about one thing, the Clown Benitez left your club in a right ****ing mess and it's going to take a better manager than Dalglish to fix it. Long may he reign.

What have we won over the last seven (soon to be eight years?) not much as you say, but we have performed consistently at the highest level (unlike Liverpool  ) while operating on a shoestring budget, building a new stadium and competing with young and up and coming players.
Like I said with competitions, do you not compete because you are never going to win it? Then only Barca, Madrid and Man U would be competing in the Cl. See. And L'pool would not be in the EPL seeing as you have never won a PL title. <doh>
Being in the CL places enhances our prestige greatly and makes us an attractive option for WC players as well bringing in extra cash. We're freaking out because there were fears we would not finish in the top 4, which is completely correct. Any top club would do anything in their power to stay at the top level. And keep kidding yourself RVP is going to leave, I know everyone is desperate for it to happen, but it won't so keep dreaming.
We'll invest and strengthen in the summer (along with Chelsea) while L'pool will be stuck with the same old dross like Carroll and Downing and a manager which is stuck in the past.

Nothing wrong with competing but saying it's ok not to win trophies because you're too busy competing is a bit pathetic. Always the brides-made and never the bride and all that. AS for RVP, You lot said the same about Nasri, he left. The same about Fabregas, he left. Now RVP hasn't renewed his contract and barca and real are sniffing around...take the blinkers off mate, he's leaving (or going to get a humongous pay rise).

RVP may stay if Arsenal get CL football next year. Suarez and Reina will definitely be off this summer though. Liverpool are going to finish in a lower position than last season and more points behind the eventual champions than last season. Broken promises = broken contracts. Stevie G can go back to being the main man!

RVP isn't interested in money, if he was he would have left a long time ago. He could get into any top side in Europe if he wanted to.
Fab - left because he was homesick, not applicable
Nasri - Money grabber, too many players like that today, no club loyalty, e.g. Cole, Adebayor, etc

RVP still has 18 months left. He will wait to see the extent of Arsenal's ambitions in signing big names and whether we finish in the top four or not. See it's important if you want to keep WC players. There is a major deal being mooted for him as well, but he's said he'll only talk at the end of the season. What about that makes you think he will want to leave?

I can't see RVP staying and a few Arsenal fans I know accept that.

The guy probably has one big contract left for him in his career at his age and I think he will go to Spain in the summer.

Arsenal must finish in the top 4 this season to have any chance of RVP staying.

Great post. We are worried about nt getting 4th because we look over at liverpool and see the likes of adam, carrott and downing. We dont want to have to watch those clowns every week or be relying on them to get us points. SO we want to make the CL so we can continue to buy decent players <ok>

Agree. My gut feeling is that unless wenger invests serious money early in the window then rvp will go.

I think Wenger has actually done a pretty good job considering the players that left in the summer, and despite an awful start he's got you guys back up to 4th without spending much in the transfer Market. He's also had to deal with injury's to key players, most notably Wilshire.

Liverpool may have won a CC but everyone knows a champions league spot is far more important, because of how much money clubs earn from playing in the competition:biggrin:

They cant do that because all that sucess was built on Ian Rush scoring the first goal and then Liverpool passing the ball back to the goalkeeper for the rest of the game. Thank god for the pass back rule.

This thread is one of the most pathetic threads I've come across in a while. What ever happened to respect? Respect for other teams, other fans and other team's managers. It's all well and good having a pop at another's team, but some of you are taking your dislike of Kenny too far.
