One short month ago here is how the table lay:

    Spuds P23 49pts
    Arsenal P23 37pts

At the time all the spuds fans were certain that the premier league title was in the bag. They were laughing at the arsenal, claiming that the power shift was now a certainty.

Meanwhile the media and spud fans were constantly raving about mr kick and rush Gareth "One trick pony" Bale. The kick and rush king had had a few decent games and the media had began to link him to real madrid and barcelona <laugh>. The one trick pony came out with a statement basically saying he would love to move there.

Meanwhile, the media and spud fans were going on about how great Arry redclown is as a manager and how bad mr wenger is. Despite there being no evidence for this, as Arry has never really done anything in his career whilst arsene has been a massive success everywhere he has been.

Then there was scott parker. Media darling no.2 (after Arry). If only, so the conventional wisdom went, Arsenal had bought this god of a footballer. Then we would be going for the title and not the spuds.

So, what happened next? Surely the spuds continued their relentless and unstoppable pursuit of the title, and arsenal continued their slide into mid table?

Well no. Instead the spuds have begun one of the greatest bottle jobs in recent years. Currently they sit only 4 points above the gunners. They have managed to blow 8 of their 12 point led in 30 days.

'Arry has decided that he no longer fancies it at spuds and has been spending most his time engineering an exit to the engurland job. He can see that the bottling is now in full flow and he wants to get out before he is tarnished by it.

Mr Parker intentionally got himself sent off in the spuds bottling vs the arsenal last week. Conveniently this means he can miss their tradational bending over for manure this weekend.

There is no longer any comical talk of the kick and rush king mr bale moving to a big spainish club. Although he has amazed everyone with his inability to play basic crosses for strikers to score open goals. His ego seems to have exploded and unfortunatly his mediocre footballing talents havent kept pace with it.

I am looking forward to the next phase of the bottle job this afternoon. I am amazed at how fast this bottling has taken hold. The spuds really are in freefall. Tragic...

This great bottling of 2012 is being brought to you by Tottingham Hoofspuds. Starring:
    Harry "not interested anymore" Redknapp
    Gareth "one trick pony" bale
Scott "Greatest signing of all time <laugh>" Parker

I have a feeling it will be a draw. They are decent at home but Man U have a mental edge over these guys and a decent away record.

Wouldn't this have made a lot more sense if (when?) you overtake them? Looking at both clubs' next few games I expect the gap to get a bit smaller and the two clubs to be within a point or two of each other at the end but as it stands they're four ahead with a game in hand and the simplest retort from any Spurs fan would be to point at the last few months of your season last year.

And yet two weeks ago, it was a completely different place - how opinions change.

Fact is - the past two results (Spurs and Liverpool) have been excellent wins but they've masked your continuing defensive issues completely. It's not all rosie just yet for the red and white section of NL.

you don't have to remind me, mate.
There are a few of us who do talk about the issues.
Its not all roses and chocolates - but we'll all be thrilled if we make at least 4th AGAIN (year after year after year).
    err.... who else manages it?

As much as I want Tottenham to lose please don't tempt fate. They could cause a shock win...hmm, maybe shock is too strong, but definitely an unlikely win if we're going on current form.

This does highlight again the irony of their 'let's have a giggle' thread. 13pt gap down to 4pts in the space of a month. . .

Just a shame we don't have to play them again this season - they're beginning to look like the prem's whipping boys <ok>

Interesting to see how many "scares" the Man Utd defence had today, yet still came though. I think we consider our defense has issues, only because we watch them every week. Truth is, most defences are going to give up chances. Thought Jones was shocking again today.

I know I might be in a minority, but I still wouldn't take Rio or Evans, over Kos, Metersacker or TV.

I'm pretty sure you're just trying to troll now. We've lost 2 on the bounce yes - 1 where we played dire (Arsenal played well too but we certainly didn't help ourselves) and the 2nd was against a team renowned for scoring against the run of play.

I would like you to explain to me how that makes us look like the 'prem's whipping boys'

Have faith mate. I am going to call them to lose at everton next. You have to have faith. The bottle is on. They are falling apart and dodgy harry isnt interested.

Yes we have issues. We arent a good side. But we are comfortably the 3rd best side in the land at the moment. RVP is a complete beast and no player not called david silva can match him in the league imo. Those 2 are absolute stand outs.

We have momentuem now and wengers sides are always confidence based. Remember when we lost our 49 match unbeaten record? Well I think we lost 3/4 in a row after that. The confidence went. But now its here and it will see us into 3rd this year. The spuds are bottling it. Bad runs always start with some "unlucky" loses against the run of play. And then they degrade into full blown confidence crisis. The next two games for spuds I think they will lose both. Everton always come good late in the season and chavski are still a decent side in the big games.

Edit: Also very amused that bale bottled it today <laugh>

Where is Don Mara and the other Spuds fans with their big mouths? What's funny is Don Mara wrote how he was going to stop supporting the team today when Spurs were losing 2-0, haha, what a great supporter he is.
