<peacedove>We must be proud of our players performance yesterday. This thing happens in football, you do not usually get what you want in life. We do not deserve to lose yesterday at least a draw would be a fair result.
Where I am going is Stadium of light next Saturday, if we can win against Sunderland it is going to be a good thing.Also. if we can progress in the FA cup and possibly win it, it is not going to be a bad season after all. Cheer up.! <ok>

  2. You could also look at the fact that Arsenal where ten points behind Spurs not so long ago, now it is just four points and most seem convinced that Arsenal will now get third. This shows that a ten point gap can be closed, it is not easy but it can be done.

We've deserved to win most games this year but we haven't. It's got to the stage where 'bad luck' doesn't cut it and the roots of the problem go deeper, no point playing well if we cannot score.

During the first half of the season, we played good football but didn;t get the results. Then Gerrard came straight back into the team and we still didnt get the results but the football was poor.

We've not won a game in the last 6 games that Stevie has started, and not only this, we haven't played the great football we did since Kenny came in. Our last two good performances were against Wolves and Arsenal i.e. Stevie wasn't playing.

There is no way he should come straight back into the starting line up. Kenny was strong enough to keep Carra on the sidelines, he must now do the same with Gerrard.

Having said that, we need a striker! Someone to put the ball in the back of the next. For the first time in a long time, I saw a LFC player getting across his defender and attack the ball (Adam crossed to Kuyt who hit post - just before hald time). Why can't we do this more often?

  5. the bit that annoys me is that keeper comments. We have apparently come up against a lot of keepers that have had a fantastic day against us. Surely that means we are giving them to opportunity to make saves...? If we put the ball in the corner then the keepers wouldn't save it would they...?

  6. I'm sure it was you that was trying this angle yesterday too. I couldn't disagree more. Since Gerrard returned, we have played better IMO. Carroll has certainly been better and I do not think that is a coincidence!

I presume Sessegnon will be suspended next week now after his red today so that's a bonus. It's always hard to be positive after a game like yesterday but what you can't fault is desire or work-rate. I think we've all accepted fourth is near impossible but all it takes is a change in fortune sometimes. All it takes is 3 or 4 results in a row to go our way and things suddenly look better. Not saying it'll happen but fingers crossed it does <ok> let's not forget Arsenals propensity to self destruct at this time of year as well.

  8. I don't find that hard at all. The result was disappointing but the performance was excellent and arguably one of our best this season. All that was missing was the goals (again). If we play like that next week then we should get the three points, but obviously that should have been the case this weekend too.

    Lol it probably was me.

Our performances have been terrible recently. Since he came back, our attacks look slow and stifled. In the first half of the season, I could honestly say (performance wise) that we were one of the better teams in the league and didn't deserve what we got. Since his return, every game that we've dropped points is because we deserved it.

I'm not saying he is a bad player despite his declining ability however I think the midfield just simply does not click when he plays. Maybe its intimidation of playing against one of the worlds best midfielders? I don't know. One thing I do know is that Adam and Gerrard should be not starting together, or at least without a DM behind them.

Carroll has played better but to what level? Compared to his utter dross earlier this season, then yes he has played better but only up to an average level.

Problem is, we dont have anyone else who can fill those roles. Looking forward to the summer!

  10. Still don't agree about Gerrard and I think our attacks up until the final third have been fairly slow all season. Interesting that you said Gerrard and Adam shouldn't start together, especially with a DM. IMO, 'Charlie Adam shouldn't start' covers it. I think he is shocking.

Totally understand what your getting at with Carroll and no, I am still not happy with his performances, but you have to admit he has improved recently.

The problem is we could play like that again and lose 1.0 to Sunderlands only chance of the game. As I said this morning footballs simply about scoring more goals than the opposition. It's hard to be too positive about the rest of the season knowing we waste so many chances but c'est la vie. It doesn't mean I'm not positive about the future coz I am but from now until the end of the season I'd like to see a slightly different approach whether that be going all out attack or blooding some youngsters, just something that makes the league campaign seem a bit more worthwile.

No I wish we do not play like that next week, with respect. What's the point of dominating matches and not being able to f*****g put the ball into the net? Do we get any consolation for being the worse converters of chances in the league? Yes it is statistically proven that Liverpool needs more chances per goal than any club.

We know and I really hope Kenny does too tht we need a striker to put the goals in. This was known for ages so why didn't we buy/loan one in the new year window?

It is Kenny's job to sort it. I hope he'll be up to it.

Surely it's Comolli's job to sort it? I don't really know what he does...
I thought their relationship was Comolli scouts and Kenny either agrees or disagrees. Kenny picks the team. A need for a top quality striker is therefore DC's job.

  14. Your right! Lets try a different tactic of not creating anything and see how many we score...<doh>

Obviously, I want us to score more and win. My point was we are playing well and creating the chances. We also have one of the best defensive records in the league. Just need to start putting the ball in the net.

Of course we need to create chances to score. Goes without saying. BUT there is no point in dominating matches if we then lose them is there? It is certainly not something to be proud of - which really riles me. I've seen a few posts here, saying how wonderful it was that we dominated Arsenal and how well we played. We f*****g lost!! If we cannot put that ball in the net with so many chances (we are top of he league for that) we have a problem.

Even that wouldn't have been fair. This is the word of 'The Wise Men' <ok>

  17. Would you rather we didn't dominate? That is not 'would you rather we dominate and won', that is 'would you rather we didn't dominate'. Obviosuly, the aim is to win, do you not think that that was the aim? If you dominate a match then you usually win. We are doing the right things and progressing in the right way, we just need to score more goals. How will we score more goals if we back off? Surely we'd more likely score less?

this whole thing about buy this or that... ame on guy who moved i njanuary we could have gotten that would improve us? january = nobody good enough available.

comolli and kenny will work together and get the right guys i nthe summer to improve again.

oh and finally.. i'd rather us to play to win, entertain everyone and give our all for it than turn up not bothered ala bolton game... all in all i think this winning ugly rubbish is all well and good for rafa but if we've really just been unlucky and every player gave their all i can hardly complain.

arsneal just got lucky, hung on in there, saw the posts and bar rattled, kuyt telegraph his pen, the suarez miss sitters, downing fail to find suarez when it was easier to do so etc etc... they dug in and kept faith and RVP came up with the goods... that can't keep happening for them or they are going to get trahsed but they've not many options left have they? injuries, suspensions etc etc.

I know we've a problem but we've not got the solution to it and have to keep doing our best. you can't magic a 30 goal striker from thin air! ps, if anyone lists 5 weak assed lesser league players or something that we could buy i'll laugh at you.

  20. I just do not understand this 'win ugly' stuff. Fair enough, some managers set up defensive and grind out results and if this was the case then I am sure most of us would accept it. But, looking at our current situation, we can't score enough from twenty chances, playing defensively and grinding out results usually means less chances at goal too. If we can't score enough from twenty chances, how the hell would we do it from five chances...?
