Well quite surprised he has lasted so long. Chelsea have been dire recently. Looks like he lost the dressing room weeks ago, so no real surprise.
The hilarious narrative to all this is that AVB- Mourinho's prodigy- was left to basically shovel the **** Mourinho left, all the while praising Mourinho as the best in the world.
Good time to take the Chelsea job, been seriously underperforming, Reunite the dressing room, correct the tactics, get rid of a bit of dead wood and I'm intrested Roman if you are reading.
I think it will be Maureen, can't see anyone else being able to drag them by the scruff of the neck into the position Roman demands.
Does he really think De Matteo will do any better? I suppose at least he has a connection to the club. AVB clearly did not have a good relationship with the players, which I think is what cost him. He couldn't face up to Chelsea's ego's. They should get Mick McCarthy in
Im not disagreeing SW6,just stating an opinion. Real Madrid to any English club would be a step down.
Can't do much worse. His tactics have been poor, the game against Napoli was shocking, no defensive midfielders against a team whose best player drops into the hole. Poor. Reunite the dressing room and straight away you have an improvement.
I'm not suprised but surely Chelsea are the only club that would pay £12mil to go and get a manager to then sack them 9 months into a 3 year contract when they've had a side on the decline for the past few years. The owner hasn't got a clue about running a football club. I can see them trying to get Guardiola for next season.
Problem for Mourinho is that the premier league is completely different from when he was last here. Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal & Liverpool can all spend now. Chelsea have FFP to deal with (which will be difficult given their average squad age and only 1 or 2 prospects coming through). He wont steamroll the league this time AND managers/teams now know him and his tactics. Will he be successful? Probably, Will he be as successful, I doubt it.
And they'll probably sack him too. Barca were a better team than Chelsea are now when he took over, and I believe he did a lot of work with the academy and reserves before he took the reigns, getting the foundations set. If Chelsea expect him to come in and make them Champions in his first season, they're sadly mistaken. He'll need 2-3 seasons at least (as would any manager.) They simply haven't got the players to play the Barcelona way at present, nor have they got the quality of academy. If they want him, they'll have to commit long term.
Wasn't that the whole idea of taking AVB? That turned out well for them... Abramovich is the problem for Chelsea and always will be. He can't forever buy them titles and instant success.
£3m? Or maybe a straight swap for Maxi, we know how they like having Liverpool players that score against them
