    The gospel according to Wiki:-

"Leeds City's whole league career was in the Second Division. However during the 1st World War there ensued a sequence of financial irregularities, including breaking the ban on paying players during the war, that led to the club's dissolution in 1919. They were expelled from The Football League eight games into the 1919-20 season. The harsh punishment was handed down mostly because of the behaviour of the club's directors, who refused to co-operate in an FA inquiry, and refused to hand over the club's financial records."

So Revie was just reviving the old tradition then....

    Location: Northampton

    Why not support the Cobblers?

A Div 1 team in the 60s just like Leeds used to be

Plus they probably didn't bribe their way there....

Except people in leeds. Lowest percentage of support from the home area of any club in the leagues.

    leeds, it's a rugby town.

Talking to some Rhinos fans on holiday last year who more or less confirmed the rugby town status.

They see the football club as a magnet for all the nomarks from outside Leeds in the West Riding small towns and villages who latched on to 'success' of earlier decades and who don't have their own club to support

I Guess our lack of success has made it academic for us, but i chuckle at these "we've won loads, got loads of fans" types. It's as if there's something missing from their life that leaves them looking for reassurance that they're not really inadequate.

Silverware, we don't care etc etc

Does it? I rather think some desperate need for vicarious achievement is far more laughable when compared to more honest reasons for going to football. <ok>

    Small club small ambitions

Was it just as funny then when we beat you 4-1 earlier this season seeing that we were at such a low and you were such a high not too long ago?

To be honest mate if we were ever to win anything, I think it would be all about the bragging rights at the time, not so in 10 years time I could turn round and say "yeah well we won this 10 years ago"

That was 1975- the year Revie bribed his way to Paris in the EC Final

How lucky for you your random choice coincided with that event?

Who do you support in the WC?

Brazil or Germany? They won it in 74 after all

PS, a lack of success doesn't mean a lack of ambition.

Serious question and no offence intended but do you have learning difficulties?

Feel free to PM if you'd rather not discuss it on-line.

I didn't know much about football at the time, I was six years old, I had two cousins one supported Scum the other Leeds both offered me hats badges and stuff trying to persuade me to support their team I chose Leeds. I used to go around saying I supported them not having a clue until I went to my first match away to Ipswich in the season Leeds got relegated 81/82

So your theory is not even close...

I'm trying really hard to give a **** about Hull City, but I just can't find it within myself.

If I were doing a psychological profile of your fanbase, I'd point to envy, bitterness and a huge dose of small man syndrome which underpins your freakish hatred for Leeds, a club whose fans who never have, don't, and never will see you as more than our Yorkshire cousins who we want to see do well, with a couple of nice-ish ex-Leeds faces like Pearson and Barmby in there which makes you even more likeable. And your fans of course, who never fail to raise a smile with your craaazaaay antics.

You have fans clubs in Leeds and Scandinavia, if I'm not mistaken, so I hope City Agro and co. are as forthright in telling those fans that they've 'latched on' to Hull and aren't proper supporters.

My score prediction: 1-4 to the Champions of Europe thanks to a series of dodgy refereeing decisions paid for by our suspicious-looking operatives carrying briefcases stuffed with cash.
