Having just seen the stats that Addick Stu posted I am dutifully reminded that although we cannot be relegated we could still finish 15th. Call it the Charlton form of optimism I don't reckon we should book the fat lady until she has a duty to appear. On the other hand we haven't lost when Victoria Stanyon has sung before the match and she certainly doesn't count as any where near fat. I suggest we book her for every home game until we are definitely up as champions then, and only then, find a fat substitute.

Scratching, the figures from 365 are based on teams winning all their remaining games, as teams have to play each other (and both teams can't win) then in effect we can not finish as low as 15th <ok>. Based on season's form to date for all the teams then 78 is good enough for 6th and I think (for this season) another 9 points will be good enough for promotion.

Last season Bournemouth came 6th with 71pts and Huddersfield got 87 pts in 3rd.

    2009-10 - Huddersfield came 6th with 80pts and Millwall got 85 pts in 3rd.

I understand the statistics which show the best and worst positions can only show the position if we lose everything and the other teams around us max out their points and that the 15th positiion is almost statistically impossible but at my age I have an in built paranoia, scepticism, pessismism, fear of failure what ever you want to call it that leads me to celebrate only when we are truly safe.

Having young Victoria sing has been a highlight of the pre match so far this year and I would much sooner have a campaign for the "Thin lady sings" at every match up to the end of the season.

I know its shockingly non-pc but I have enormous difficulty not breaking into a chorus of GYTOFTB when Victotria performs at the Valley. In the nicest well-meaning sort of way of course!:bandit:

Mate, what I am saying is that it is statistically impossible for us to finish as low as 15th because some of the 14 teams that need to get more points than we currently have are still to play each other and either both teams will get one point or one team will get zero points from those games. The first team below us in the league who are not able to catch us are Bury who have played 34 games and have 41 points so for us to finish 15th every team above them needs to get 3 points in all their remaining games which is not possible as some have to play each other (huddersfield play Hartlepool on Tuesday and Brentford play Sheffield Utd next Saturday)

With regard to opera singers... young Katherine ain't too fat is she?

If you like, I could put on a pink dress and dust off the old vocals and do some Bad Manners numbers - you never know, I might be able to do a 'modern' Red,Red Robin !
