I found this link on the Autosport forums and I thought it was a very interesting read. Five experts have predicted the top 10 for the Australian GP. Please check out the link before you read the stuff I write next. http://predictor.castroledgerankings.com/the-experts/ I found it surprising that all experts believed Red Bull had the fastest car. While I agree with them, both Ferrari and Red Bull haven't done any qualifying runs. I must be missing something here because I wasn't aware that RB were commonly accepted as the fastest team. Yes they were Winter Testing Champions but Ferrari won that in 2010 and ended up with the 3rd fastest car (just my opinion - but point is they were far from quickest). Wasn't really surprised to see guys like Vettel and Alonso consistently placed above their teammates with all experts predicting both drivers will finish on the podium. As there is a not606 prediction league running, its probably best not to name your top 10, but do any of the predictions surprise you?
jonothan noble thinks Mclaren wont get in the points whilst most of the others are backing Button ahead of Hamilton. I would also note that Vettel and Webber dont have the greatest record in australia so I wouldnt necessarily give them default 1&2
Bando, I agree with Noble based on pace and reliability so far - what surprised me was 2 people putting Button 4th. I was also disappointed to see Massa 5th or 6th, but then he never does well at the first race.
Three things: 1) Looking at the times I haven't thought there was much between RBR and Ferrari. However, people stood trackside have said Red Bull look visibly faster than everyone else. I'd say this is a better indicator than the times themselves because you never know what teams are doing with fuel loads, tyres, KERS, DRS etc. So I'd say RBR are expected to be fastest. 2) I was surprised with how highly Herbert and Priaulx rated Button. I suppose the fact that he has won the last two Grands Prix there is counting in his favour. 3) Edd Straw doesn't have Webber in his top 10. He's obviously predicting a retirement but it's still a bit strange.
Everybody is a WUM, they have a person they want to do best, none of the experts are experts, they are only knowledgable. How can they predict on testing?
Experts................ what do they know? The predictions I had from 'Experts' at todays horse racing proved they know nothing!!! Preidctions are just lucky punts at a result! I'm going for a Lotus 1-2
I think none of them will even enter the, becuase knowing our luck, Melbourne will pull out at the last minute due to 'political unrest'
I think most of these views are quite realistic, and I have also gone on record with expecting Red Bull to start the season fastest and for Vettel to continue to gain favour over Webbo; and Alonso being their main threat. The only pundit I really disagree with is Noble, who has no credibility with me in any case. Apart from underestimating (in my opinion) the McLaren duo's collective ability to pull the car's socks up, he predicts Schumacher finishing well ahead of Rosberg. Does he really know something about Mercedes which the rest don't? - I sincerely hope he is not smelling a rat with Rossââ¬Â¦
Possibly because Button has won the last two Australian GP's, or because of the effect of the tyres, or because Hamilton's aggression might backfire (as it did last year)
There is NO WAY Button will finish ahead of Lewis in Melbourne. Its just not going to happen. As we saw last year when given the same equipment Lewis thrashed Jenson.
He beat Jenson, but he didn't thrash him. The fight between them was a lot closer then many expected. And taking into account the fact that the 2010 car was designed around Lewis, the tyres were ultra durable, racecraft not important because there was only one good strategy in normal conditions, Jenson needed to adjust into the team (not helped by Jenson's race engineer changes) ---- Jenson Button didn't do a bad job. There is a lot more going for Jenson this year, the tyres especially, the strategy, the car design, to name a few. We'll see how things go in the season, but I would be surprised if Jenson starts beating Lewis.
Jenson showed us all that being smooth has its dangers see Korea 2010 was the worst performance from a world champion I have ever seen. If Lewis could beat him in 2010 then HE WILL beat him in 2011.
Why do you think Lewis will be more dominant this year? and Jenson and Lewis had a different car in Korea remember.
I remember that Button is the only driver to have won that race in the last 2 years. Last year Button beat Hamilton by 30s in the same car and Hamilton said 'It was the drive of my life' too. Button always goes well in Melbourne in a half-decent car 2006 - 3rd (was 1st at safety car) 2009 - 1st (lead all laps, could have had Grand Chelem) 2010 - 1st (easy win, help of Vettel)
No, you can't really be that stupid.... You haven't been watching F1 for very long if you think that was the worst performance by a champion. Even Hamilton Monza 2010 was worse, and before that Alonso ****ed up a few times, Raikkonen was horrible in certain races in 2008, and don't get me started on Jacques Villenueve What kind of logic is that? Have you not read my earlier response: http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...-Australian-GP?p=240713&viewfull=1#post240713 Nobody want's you on this site. You have been banned twice already, do you not get the message? I don't mind having a normal discussion with you about F1, but you display such little knowledge of the sport, and then anyone who disagrees with you gets accused of being racist. 12 year olds shouldn't be on this forum - the fact that you keep spamming the chatbox proves that. And now, you are impersonating me: http://www.not606.com/member.php/1006680-Joseph-Lorca Just **** OFF!!
Hahahahahahahahaha! However factually correct this post may be I nearly wet myself laughing at the hypocrisy!
