Carragher is a good defender, but age is telling on him.Kenny has been grooming Coates for sometime now. he should give him chances to show what he is capable of doing.Agger and Skrtel are good together, but I am not sure of Skrtel and Carragher together.
Carragher's legs failed years ago. He was never the quickest of players to being with. Would Kenny be willing to start Coates against Sunderland? Doubt it. Would like to see him being used more now that 4th is virtually gone
IT'S NOT HIS ****ING LEGS!!!!!!!!!!!, IT'S HIS ****ING BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!! Carra is capable of being as fast as anyone in the team, and the opta stats prove it! What is going wrong, is that he spends so much time pointing at team mates and barking orders, he fails to do his first job. Look at the second goal today, and RvP has already taken 5 yards before Carra even knows he has gone or the ball is going over his head.
RVPs been doing that all season to the best defenders in the league though Carra didn't cover himself in glory for either goal granted but sometimes you just have to credit the striker for his movement awareness and frankly stunning finish
Billy, you do have to accept (no matter how much it hurts) that RvP deserved his goals. Perhaps, just perhaps, a Carra of yesteryear may have stopped him - but I doubt it. As for Carra himself then we have to accept that his best days are behind him. If he was a regular starter we would be saying that "this must be his last year" and forwarding names that we should get in as a replacement. The positive thing from Carra's demise is that we actually don't need to go out and buy 'big', replacements exist within the squad. It really depends upon the attitude that KK and the team now display fro the rest of the season now that 4th is improbable. If we use the matches to experiment then we still have the possibility to get to the 4th spot and/or have the possibility of starting next season with a fully blooded defensive unit.
I'd like to see Martin Kelly use at CB alongside Skrtel while Agger is out injured. He came through the youth set up as a CB and is big and strong enough to play there. He is used to playing in the team now and is good defensively at RB so can't do any harm to give him a go. It seems rather pointless using Carragher who is surely in his last couple of years when we could be using the last few games to experiment with younger players. It's sad to see but now when I see Carragher in the team I get the same feeling as when I saw Skrtel in the team 2 seasons ago.
