From absolute dross at the end of last season to the consistent efficiency of this?

Ok, 20 odd new players may have helped.
Was the best bit of transfer business the selling of Jenkinson?

Is CP the brilliant , astute tactitian?
Does CP have the wonderful knack of being able to pick the right player.?
Does CP have the wonderful knack , as Curbs did, of getting more from the team than the sum of its parts?

Whatever it is, thank you Sir Chris, thank you so much.

He's picked the right players who hit it off with one another immediately over the Summer - that is both luck and good planning.

I still believe that Arsene Wenger's mad decision to buy Jenkinson was crucial for everything, though.

The fact that we have got Chris Solly as replacement and destined to be out POTY, is quite an incredible piece of business - whether that was a fluke or not.

i cant believe that we got 2 million for someone who played about ten times for us. if he hadnt gone, we'd be looking at doc and fortune at centre back, reid and anyinsah in midfield and benson and sodje up front.

    we'd have been relegation fodder.

Does everyone honestly believe the jenkinson thing, i'd assume the money would have come from the new owner for sure, i mean if we didnt sell jenkinson.

nope, at the time they said that jenkinson said he wanted us to get a good deal because around that time, the new rule came in where you get peanuts for kids outside the prem.

think the owners did plug the hole that was said to be costing us £7m a year just to run.

oh, and francis woulda been our right back and mccormack our midfield general.

Personally I'm not sure I believe that the Jenkinson signing funded our whole squad (although perhaps I just don't want to believe it).

The numbers don't really add up as far as I can see - Wiggins, Stephens, Green and Hamer are all said to have cost us around £250-350k each, and I'm pretty certain the sale of Jenkinson was said to be only for an initial £1.5million?

Don't forget selling Robbie Elliot as well, that brought in around £250k

Maybe we would have had some money without the Jenkinson sale, but not as much.

Making jackson captain starting solly and signing Yan the 3 big factors in us winning the league.
We are a lesser team when solly aint in it he`s the heartbeat of the team

The solid back 4 has been the biggest basis of our success.
    Buying Wiggins, Taylor and Morrison
    Keeping Solly fit

Jenkinson is a good player. So is Solly, so it was convenient we could cash in on one youngster without affecting the team.

Main reason Sir Chris Powell....Very brave to cull the dead wood in one swoop like that, and bringing in the new players and instilling in Ithem with the belief and Charlton spirit. I honestly dont believe anyone else could have done this and so quickly.Everyone of those players are a credit to our club..
I hope given a chance that Clarke will come good, probably be helped by a goal and people getting off his back!...

I think the fact that we pretty much found a winning side and stuck with that same team rather than chopping and changing in major areas every week.

That and as well the fact we've brought players and we've played them in their natural positions

I would say CP has been the difference this season. Firstly he had the courage to completely rebuild the team over the summer when a lot of us were calling for the likes of Semedo to be retained at all costs. Secondly his inspiration in recognising that Bradley WPcould do with a strike partner of the class of Kermorgant and then persuading that player to join us (shades of Curbs persuading di Canio to join us). There are many more things thathe has done right over the things that he has done wrong that is the difference.

What about praise to our physios and training staff as so few injuries this season, before anyone points it out i know jj but the rest have stayed relatively injury free ie the back four....so as much as not chopped and changed,it helps to have a fit squad.....
