We seem to concede three goals quite a lot recently. Interesting to see over on Otib, that many many are starting to question our manager, and his tactics. Clearly the rovers scenario is biting us on the backside, buckle was sacked,a excellent replacement was found in Mark Magee I would imagine one if not the highest paid manager in the bottom league. If we follow the last two month results to the season end BCFC are going down. Interesting rumours are that Del was appointed by the puppet sexstone and was not SLs man of preference. Steve you need to take control of this sinking football club, you need to deal with it now. This club is going down as it seems to be on a one way collision to league 1. Will Bristol City fc need a new ground at Ashton Vale ? The biggest priority is to keep city in the championship. Personally I don't see any points for us during March under the current strategy. Alarming times.
Here we go again Red Robins weekly get Del out messages. We are going through tough times but we all know you don't like him so talk about the injuries or something else
I'm honestly starting to love Red Robin threads after a defeat. They're like getting spit on after someone beats you and takes your wallet.
The only thing more shocking that our results is that people like Red Robin are calling for McInnes to be sacked. We could put SAF in charge of this lot and we'd still struggle. McInnes isn't the reason we're favourites for relegation, it's all down to the players.
Sorry guys I won't pull any punches, wrong man for the job. There is a decent set of players here, that need playing in correct positions to their strengths.
He pulled St Johnstone apart and turned them into a decent Scottish Premier side. Yes, the Championship is a higher level, but I think he has the best qualities of any manager available to us. We have players that may at one time have been decent, but we've not replaced well and we've spent the last two years trying to get rid of a bloated squad. In that time, we've made numerous signings on the cheap because the money wasn't there and we're left with a team that's destined for League 1. Outside of a handful of players who will probably be gone in the summer I really cannot see where the quality is. However, a lot of players will be out of contract in the summer so if we can hang on McInnes can completely rebuild and reshape the team his way.
I agree with Red Robin..... Sorry but the championship is a different ball game to Scotish Premier. St Johnstone is/was an average side in a very poor league. What cheeses me off is I could have understood had we been mid table and a manager left us, why we would go for someone like DM.....but in a relegation fight??? Our board and most fans were happy to take on an unknown, unexperienced manager to get us out of this mess......a massive risk, as I said at the time. With that risk, we could have saved money and kept Millen as useless as he was. It's a terrible record these last seven games and if it wasn't for the teams below us being just as bad & the Portsmouth situation we would have been more or less relegated by now. I don't blame DM as I'm not sure if he knew what he was letting himself in for.......but I don't think he is experienced enough to know how to stop the rot. He's brought players in, but IMO not much better than we had already. As Red Robin as said Alarming times ahead.
The concensus of opinion with each signing and their first couple of games has been very favourable. I was all for DM to be our manager, and he got off to a flyer with the players he inherited. since then half the team (ish) is his input when fit!. One cant help thinking that our results when he first came 4 wins 3 draws 2 losses were with players here already. our 4 wins back then featured a settled defence, a group of 6 players covering midfield, not all the same time of course and ADDY and Maynard, and score line of 9-3. Bolasie and Wooly covered as subs.
I agree with this. Also, apart from Maynard, I do believe that managers are working with a ceiling to what they can spend on individul players. Which is why we have ended up bringing in a lot of dross. This isn't going to change though - if we go down there will be massive implications and the budget will be even tighter. All the more reason to get in a manager who can ensure we deploy the players to their strengths and get the best from what we've got. Which plainly isn't happening at the moment.
Red Robin and One for, Last time I posted in response to this after our last defeat you quite rightly pulled me up for my over the top response and I apologise to you both for that! (I wont post on a disappointing Saturday night again after drinking!) But, is this really constructive? Just changing managers every 5 minutes is not the way to go, Mcinnes seems to have shot himself in the foot by initially giving us hope, if we had just hurtled to relegation the players would have quite rightly got the blame. The man has tried every conceivable formation and player we have and we still concede 3 every game. (and some want to take a player out of the midfield to play an extra one up front?) I feel sorry for the bloke because I just cant see a viable solution with what he has available to him. Whats the saying? I can stand the despair its the hope that kills me... Red Robin, every time you post, its always Gas positive, City negative.. I am beginning to wonder?
Banksy I agree, we have what we have got, change at the present time IMO would be disastrous I know it's hard being positive, but we have to get behind the manager and the team. I really hate to think how depressed I would now be had KM still been in charge. At least there is some hope that we can beat the drop and I will cling to that. If we get relegated, which a club our size has no guarantee against, then we will have to rebuild for the future. After having spent some time reading this board, I'm off to sit in a hot bath with a razor and a bottle of painkillers.
You won't hear from Red Robin till the next defeat when he will be drumming up more support to get rid of Del. Don't quite understand what they expect mind, if he left today there would be another 2-3 weeks before an appointment then only a couple of weeks left.
I will keep saying this until somebody listens We need SL to invest serious money in a world class youth academy, designed and run by top Spanish professionals. We need to offer incentives to the best young kids in Europe and DEVELOP that side of the club. Elsewise, we need to stop dreaming of the Premiership and resign ourselves to a life in the lower reaches, because this club cannot compete financially at Championship level with crowds of 13 K, overblown wages and a million a year transfer kitty. If anyone saw the QPR program on BBC2 last night, Warlock said it all with "there is no point in spending below £5 Million because it will get you nowhere." So all those deluded people who were suggesting Warlock might want to manage here, that is where the illusion flounders. Coppell wouldn't stay because there was no cash for players, Millen couldn't bring in major signings and nor could GJ, because we couldn't compete with the Brums, Leicesters, West Hams and QPRs. Yet Southampton are up there thanks to their youth policy. Its not rocket science, so why cant the so called intelligent people who run our club use their brains and start looking around Europe for an academy guru ?
Red Robin, every time you post, its always Gas positive, City negative.. Banksey 100% city have been for a long long time,I would love to follow the happy clappys, but i just feel since GJ has gone we have gone further backwards than forwards. I would love to know why coppell walked, there is a major issue that caused it,i think that problem is still at Ashton Gate. Of course I would love Del to turn it around,I Would love to beat Lesta, and Cardiff, but can you honestly look in the mirror as say we will.
That is a contradiction surely? We still need a new stadium. It has nothing to do with how many fans come to the ground it's about how much we can charge for conferencing etc... We've already sacked one manager this season
