RVP's post match interview's worth a listen. Seems like a very decent honest professional. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17245605
My frustration is at how we played so bloody well, yet have nothing to show for it. Yes I think Kenny screwed up with his decisions, especially over substitutions, and I feel righteous with venting at Charlie Adam and Carra, both let us down badly and should both pay with their place, but again, I think Kenny will stick with his brethren jock and the wastage will continue to punish us. Some of the early interplay between Kuyt and Suarez was sublime and I was enthralled, and I hope it only gets better. To people who keep slagging Kuyt off, you can **** off, as he is still one of the better players in our squad. Some of the work he did with Luis was a joy to watch, and until someone proves to me that there is a better player in our squad at what he does, I think he should be 1st name on the team sheet, week in. Spearing put in the performance of his career, and if you still think he's not good enough, you can **** off too! You know nothing, and ya ma is crap in bed! But I am truly pissed at Carra, the fackless Muppet. people keep banging on about his pace, but there is nothing wrong with his pace, we know he can run as fast as anyone else in our team, it is the fact that he is too busy pointing and yelling at everyone else, he keeps forgetting to do his own fecking job! Carra, you're a legend, son, but do us a favour and retire now. I'm happy for you to end your playing career at this club, as long as you hang your boots up this season. If you want to go on playing, then sorry lad, but you'll have to go ply your trade in a lower division. I keep replaying their 2nd goal in my head, and getting more annoyed at him for being totally oblivious to EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! until it was all too late. I can forgive him the first, he was just out of place, but to do it again in the same match is just unforgivable. Also, Suarez's love affair with the woodwork is wearing a bit thin! I know it is better to hit the post than to hit it wide, proving that when he is missing, he is only missing by the smallest of margins, but it just winds the fans up, as we all go ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! He also gets an automatic starting berth for me, but he is not the 6 yard box poacher we are truly missing. The thing is, we can't have Luis and a poacher and keep Carroll as a target man (which he is not doing very well anyway). So I'b keep luis and Dirk for the rest of the season, with Coady on the bench. Sorry Carroll, it's just not working, it's not you, it's me blar blar blar...
There are 11 games left, we got one in hand, Arsenal could have conceded 7 or 8 today if we had teeth up front, which we didnt. The team played one of the more creative teams in the league, a team that destroyed spurs and we played them off the park and should have put it to bed by half time and still added 3 more in the second half. Finishing ranks, but on the whole a very good performance Reina Adam Henderson Kelly apart, Enrique is quality As for CArra, I felt he was finished last year. Agger you glass cnut!
The smallest of margins. One or two minor things happen differently and everyone on here is cracking the champagne out, as it is it's utter despair. Funny old game. Our penalties this season have been disgraceful, but nothing else is as bad as some are making out. Why our players aren't thinking about where they are putting their penalties I don't know. Kuyt put his pen that side as recently as Sunday. Sczesney knows this, we know this, have a word. As for the rest of the game we played absolutely quality. If Van Persie was playing for us we'd have won by 4 or 5. Yes it's the story of the season but personally i think it shows we have a very solid squad. With the addition of 1 or 2 match winners we could be a real force to be reckoned with, and the fact is we weren't in a position to buy those kind of match-winners without Champions League football/recent trophy success. This was a big game but Arsenal still have some tough fixtures and if you take our game in hand as 3 points then we have to make up 7 points. If we play like we did today in every game then that gap is not impossible. Unlikely yes, but not impossible. People will go on about you make your own luck, but at the end of the day we lost our best defender the week before this game, and 2 of our other regulars were lost on international duty. Combine that with Arsenal's injury doubt over their best player working out ok, hitting the woodwork yet again, and missing a pen (basically a 50/50 chance) and it could have been different. Console yourselves with a trophy win for now guys, and remember that if our bad luck hits Arsenal next week then we might be back to square 1!
Very rarely slate a Livepool player, but Adam is not of the required standard, makes the wrong decision to often. Very selfish player imo. Even his corners and free kicks are ****, and that's supposed to be his best attribute.
Prime example - slipping a simple ball through to Henderson who would have been one on one with the keeper. But no he tries to take on 2 defenders and ****s it up
Yes, exacly Sky. try's to many long shots and hollyood balls when the simple pass is the best option. Scholes is a good example of keeping it simple, football is a simple game complicated by idiots. Can give Charlie the benefit of the doubt, being his first season, but he needs to buck his ideas up. Not good enough at the moment. On a positive note, thought Wee Jay was excellent.
I remember that and I actually think he just didn't look up. Just as bad really considering he's meant the be the midfielder with the creative vision...but hey ho.
Exactly... he should be looking up, that's his job. He didn't even have a clue Henderson was there, for me that's worse than knowing he's there and not playing him in. His job as a CM is to look for runners and play them in.
No point getting to down though. At the end of the day we got done over by a striker bang on form. If we had someone who could take half of the chances we create we would be top of the league. Still good signs today though, PATIENCE! We are moving in the right direction.
Yeah he's been a great signing. Occasionally goes missing but that's got to be expected of a player of his age. His energy and commitment are top notch.
He should have scored His touch was poor at the critical moment once or twice He played well making himself available in areas in attack, worked very hard but his imapct was below the required for what we bought him for though its early doors yet, too early to make any minds up of course. His delivery even for the OG was poor more than not Otherwise, he wasnt bad, got about but quality could have been better considering arsenal were on the ropes
He's lacking confidence, which has never been more evident than the Cup Final (one particular time when he had the ball edge of the area, dallied, then turned around and played it back), but his movement is really, really good. He, Downing and Carroll all still seem to be settling in which is partly why i'm still encouraged by our progress this season.
Yes we have spent money AND we have improved since Voy left. We have won a cup. We know that we have not received the points that our play has deserved at Anfield. It's a long standing problem and we haven't solved it yet. But progress is still being made and I'm going to celebrate that fact. We don't know exactly what is happening within the club. We don't know just how fit the players actually are. Not knowing that we are in no position to question the manager's decisions. It's not rose-coloured-glasses but I truly believe that with the import of a little more quality we can seriously challenge for the title next season - and that's probably 2/3 seasons before we thought we could. Yes we need a goalscorer - and that's probably not Carroll. We need a quality playmaker - for long term Gerrard replacement and to replace Adam. Yes Carra needs to hang up his boots. All these things we know, but the future is far brighter than some of you appear to think. As for the money we've spent - you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs. The money was never yours or mine in the first place.
Meh i'd say he created a goal, should have scored one, if Adam had played him in would have scored one, and was the best attacking midfielder on the pitch. Outshone Walcott, Benayoun, Song (until the late assist), Rosicky and Adam. Not bad for a young lad.
To be honest, if that was the orders from the chief, thats what he'll do. Kenny should be reminding him why he was bought, not to take on 2 players not to get caught ahead of the ball on te edge of the oppositions box, fk we mis Lucas. He in days gone by did the same thing minus taking on two players but he learned well, will Adam, short game poor long game hit and miss today, decision making and general awareness lower than average. Yet we still bounced that lot around like rag dolls and should have got 8, I seriously doubt they'll finish 4th
