Reports are saying he felt a tight hamstring, so he might be a doubt for Milan, if he is indeed out injured again then it's 100% time to off load him, you can't really blame him as i'm sure he doesn't enjoy it and your body is your body, you can't really control it. but none the less, we can't go on like this, he is meant to be one of our main midfielders to rely on, and right now we are basically lacking a midfielder whom we should have, he is constantly out injured which hurts our squad depth, so it's time to move on, and get a new midfielder whom we shall be able to rely on for the squad and first team. Not to mention he also is getting paid, and Arsenal are all about smart finances, and to me it doesn't sound smart at all playing a player up to 60k a week who spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch, essentially Diaby has been paid all season while doing nothing on the pitch.

It might just be to do with how long he's been out injured. Might just be a little tweak which he should recover from quickly. If it's another long term one then there are serious question marks over the wisdom of keeping him on the books. I actually rate him when he's fit, but he never seems to string two games together.

I feel very sorry for him, not sure why everyone is so hostile to him. He has suffered injury after injury and it's not his fault.

Hope he can string together a few games for us.

Its hard to analyse Diaby without being sentimental. The bloke has had his leg snapped in two and has not been the same ever since. Even last season, he was on the end of two shocking tackles from Robinson and Essien.

Diaby is a beast waiting for his chance to return to glory - Arteta/Wilshere/Ramsey want to be careful imo. When diaby finally comes back to fitness (properly not just 20 mins here and there) then he will be a beast.

I am very much looking forward to having:

Rosicky, Diaby, Wilshere, Song, Ramsey, Arteta, Coq, Frimpong all fighting for a spot in the first team.

Diaby will still come good it just depends if it wil happen with us or not. Wenger has faith in him though and i expect him to last atleast another couple of seasons while he has a chance to show us what he is worth.

I don't hate Diaby, i think he has excellent potential, and if he could stay injury free he would be a great player for us, but the fact is is that it doesn't look like that's going to happen, unfortunately it seems he just can't stop getting injured and his body just can't take it. I don't think he will be able to get off this as he also had the same problems with injury BEFORE he joined us, so this has been a problem he has faced with his entire career, sadly it seems he will never be able to fulfil his potential and go on a healthy run of games being injury free, and there comes a time in football where you have to do what's best for the club and give the tough love and move on.

When he can string a run of games together, he can be a top player. IMO, he was france's best player at the world cup (though it's nothing really to brag about)

Disagree. If he is injured and it's a hamstring tweak then it's a very common injury for a player returning from a long time out. He should be back within a week or two. Despite being out for so long, he showed glimpses of his old form today. I think he's still got a lot to offer our club.

I felt he had a couple of really nice touches, and calmed the game down in some situations. At one point we had possession for a continuous 2 minutes chiefly cause of him and Song, when Liverpool had looked the most dangerous.

If he can get fit enough I'd say he can get ahead of Ramsey very fast (admittedly not a big feat, but it is what it is).

Last season he started off OK, but in the last few games when the whole team imploded, he was shockingly bad. He was so low on confidence he was afraid of his own shadow. Numerous times he would be in a good position with the ball but messed it up purely through 0 confidence. Very much like Walcott this whole season.

He has shown glimses of potential and should do well given an extended run, but he is another example of how Arsenals current crop of young pkayers seem to have very fragile self belief.

I remember once he had what the press were calling a 'perfect game' where he had a 100 percent pass completion rate, he scored the winner too. I think it was against Everton a few seasons ago.

It is simple - sell him and give his salary to RVP.

    <ok>

And this is why he still deserves a chance to get back to full fitness. Some people were saying we should cut our losses with RVP as he was too injury prone - now that view looks totally misguided.

I think it may be the same with Diaby, who has proved that when he's fit and on form, he can be a top player.

I'd often thought that he might become to be known as Paddy Diaby - in honour of the great Vieira. Time will tell, he needs to prove is value all over again, but I think he deserves the chance to do so.

  15. Sentiment has to come into it a little with Diaby - but surely the club have insurance in place for these kind of situations where we can just end his contract and use the insurance to pay off the term?

Diaby could have been world class but he'll end up back in the French league only occasionally fit enough to play.
I think we've managed his injurys really badly and it's done irreparable damage to his development as a player.

He has pace, aggression, technical ability and height.

I also very much doubt Wenger wanted to bring him on a game as important as this for a full 45 minutes. I imagine the plan was to either not play him or to give him 10 minutes tops if things were going well. As it was he gets thrown into the deep end against a side which were, frankly, dicking us all over the park - without a chance to warm up as much as he should have.

Hopefully it's a slight niggle and he'll start to get a run in the side. I really like him and think he offers us variety to what we already have. Just a shame he's suffered so many injuries as it's hampered what could have been a great career. I understand other peoples frustrations but look how good RVP is having a season uninjured, not to mention how good Rosicky is beginning to look now he's getting a proper run in the side.

We probably should off-load Van Persie too; after all, he is injury prone.

I do feel extremely sorry for diaby, and no we shouldn't get rid of him, he doesn't choose to be out injured and it might take him until the summer to get fully fit again. In the same way that rvp and rosicky seem to be over there injury concerns somewhat i think all diaby needs is time to recover and then get his full fitness back. I am more concerned as to why players like arshavin chamakh squillaci etc are still at the club. There is no doubt about diaby's ability all he needs is a run of matches. It's also unsettling for him to have 2 minutes to warm up because he wasn't expecting arteta to get injured and especially in a big game against liverpool who were dominating the match. Its unfortunate but im sure wenger will keep faith in him.
