Everything is closing these days. All round Pompey, pubs that have been around for hundreds of years are boarded up. Replaced by new theme bars or, worse, the old pub is given a new trendy name. Corporate society, is where you are leading us, Cameron, not big society. Even the Ultravox (of all those years ago) you speak of, Superman, was a new trendy, Midge Ure, chart friendly version, that replaced the, IMHO, far better, original John Foxx combo. In ten/twenty years, tradition will be replaced by and belong to, history.
Really sorry to hear about the traditional pubs etc dying out and the sad demise of a once great football team. So far, here in Norwich, we seem to be holding our heads just above water and whilst there are trndy new bars opening and closing again within a few months, we still have several excellent pubs for those of us who like to drink real ale. Supers - fantastic post BTW and let's hope our losing dtreak comes to an end next Sunday!!!
