?

Would you support a Plan B Pheonix Club?

  1. No. If/when Pompey get liquidated, there will NEVER be another team (PTID!)

  2. No. I will find another established club to support.

  3. I may go to a couple of games, but not "support"

  4. Yes. This would be the rebirth of my beloved blues

Which in all honesty is looking VERY likely at the moment, would you support a pheonix club (or Plan B as it is better known).

Starting from the bottom as AFC Portsmouth or something similar is something that I personally cannot think I could cope with. I love my club dearly, the blood running through my veins is Pompey Blue, and... Anything other than the club I love with it's rich history would just feel... wrong :(

Some would say that if the new team played at Fratton, had Porttsmouth in the name, and played for the city, then in essance it would be the same team. But... IMO, it wouldn't be :/

So, my question is... Would YOU support a pheonix club?

EDIT - To the "funny" Southampton fan who edited my post, grow up and don't bother. Thanks.

Voted YES. Be it Pompey in the Premier League or AFC Pompey in the Southern League.

    POMPEY IS POMPEY!

I could never bring myself to 'support' another established league side. In the inevitable interim period between Liquidation and the start of the new club I would follow Havant & Waterlooville.

Would support the Hawks during the interim process.

There will always be a Pompey. It's not the name that counts for me. Its the soul. Pompey would have its soul back and being resucitated by the fans. If the new club could play at Fratton I think that would clinch it for many people. We need the old girl.

P.S I think the new club would be named Portsmouth City Football Club if PFC can't be used.

    Also voted YES

Living on the South Island, would have to follow Newport F.C., until new "PFC" club is formed.

I'd go along with that. Whether the fact that the club [before the last admin] was actually called Portsmouth City Football Club Ltd would cause a problem with that I'm not sure.

I wouldn't have thought that would be a problem as Portsmouth City Football Club LTD was the company name.

I agree a Phoenix club would be my preferred team.

I couldn't bring myself to support someone else.

You don't need to worry about the name. Surely it would be called Pompey once it got going, whatever the legal title?

Yes I would but I want us called Portsmouth City FC (or similar) - I've watched teams wherever I've lived but I my heart belongs to Peeeeeoooorrrrtttttsssssssmmmmmuuuufffff. We won't die - spirit is too strong - keep the faith - whatever division we end up in we will still be Pompey.

Even if the current club were wound up tomorrow, Portsmouth has more potential than the likes of Wimbledon and Stevenage, both of whom have come from nothing and both of whom will play in the Championship in the next decade.

PlayUpPompeyFanJake - I thought the thread title was weird! At least we can laugh at the fact that the 'funny Saints fan' had five words to write and managed to screw it up...

I would have thought that real Pompey fans would support a phoenix club, like AFC Wimbledon. And that support would allow the team to attract bigger names (on a realistic budget, of course!) than other teams in their league and should see a return to the Football League inside a decade.

In fact as a football fan (rather than a Fulham fan), I'd probably have a soft spot for a phoenix Pompey. If it stops Gaydamak and Chainrai taking any more money, I'd say its a decent idea!

Somehow chaps, I think things will work out. Don't ask me why or how but I simply can't contemplate what's being discussed here.

I don't come originally from Portsmouth, as most people on here know, so it would be a bit of a quandary for me.

This is a real quandary for me - do I want to undertake a 5 hour round trip to watch an AFC team play at Alexandra Park or somewhere similar? No I don't is the answer to that.

And to be honest, I don't really have much faith in the group that is looking to instigate Plan B, which, as they keep insisting is their 'last resort' can only mean that their preferred option has not been shared with their members.

So I'm with Jake on this one.

I assume you'd be supporting Chichester City rather than Brighton! <yikes>

Redknapp said he knew someone who wanted to buy us yesterday! Although having any of his dodgy mates involved in the club isn't ideal, I'd take anything at the moment that will keep us alive. Storrie anyone?

Hi Dev, I used to watch Bognor, a long time ago.

Chichester City were called Chichester City United, for a while, as they did a Havant/Waterlooville merger. I thought that was a silly name, even worse than the Havant and Waterlooville mouthful.

They seem to be calling themselves Chichester City again now. so maybe I will go along when I'm visiting for the day.

I would support Crawley, before Brighton, as my Nan used to live in Horsham and we used to go to Crawley as a treat.

It was still a new town then.

Don't make any rash decisions, Meowth. Go to a Barbers shop. Get some SR toothpaste. Vist the Online shops of Sunderland and Stoke. Think about the different types of corpuscles which comprise human blood. Close your eyes and relax. And then it will come to you.

    The future is bright.................:) :)

I have, on my mothers side, French ancestors. One of whom, had a film made about him. He met a sticky end sadly.

So I guess there is some blue blood in me somewhere?
