The potential demise of Portsmouth and Rangers has led me to wonder if we could maybe take advantage of other peoples misfortune by poaching some of their best players on the cheap in readiness for next season?
I dont know anything about Rangers (leave that to you, Billy and Jimbob) but i know that 2 at Pompey who are regularly praised by my work colleagues are Pierce and Mullins.
    Any thoughts?

Yes we were, Captain B - wasn't impressed then and still not impressed now.

To be honest, and I know this is going to sound odd, but the only player I'd look at from either squad is Luke Varney, who seems to have developed into the player we always hoped he'd become.

Funnily enough Stu, ashamed though I am to admit it, a similar thought was going through my head today. I'm not well up on Scottish football these days having emigrated 25 years ago (always regarded myself as a missionary!) but I'm pretty sure that the standard has dropped significantly since Billy and I were regulars. To that end I'd have to wonder whether the standard of your average Rangers player is much above what we have at present. Apart from a couple like Davis and mcgregor who will be able to cut it at a high level and probably attract a high fee and big wages, I'm not sure that there is much that we would covet. From my knowledge there is Naismiith, ex Kilmarrnock, who is crocked at the moment, but those in the know hold in high regard. I've never been impressed but I've only seen on telly so it's unfair to judge. There are some supposedly good young boys. Ness who I believe is also injured and a winger whose name escapes me. There are also the older guys like McCulloch, ex Wigan, and Papac who might do a turn in the championship and who are nearing the end of contracts and might therefore be high on the redundancy list. But, to be honest, I don't think there is much scope for rich pickings. Not sure I'm very comfortable with the principle either!

Didnt we go after the Centre-Back Pearce in the summer when he was still with Bournemouth only Portsmouth managed to get him due to the buy-back Clause in his Contract?

Pearce is a quality CB, last season was Captain of Bournemouth at the age of @ 22, would work very well with Morrow plus has played a season with our very own Welsh Wizzard.

Sonny Aluko at Rangers has developed well in Scotch Football, he's the brother of the Aluko who played for our girls and has scored some class goals this season.

Could do with a winger...Gregg Wylde I think is still at Rangers, only like 20 and he's quick and left sided...

That's the fella I couldn't remember! Supposed to be a great prospect. Aluko is interesting too. Can't remember the circumstances of his departure from Aberdeen where he also looked good for a while.
