The Swiss/Bosnian keeper is training with City at the moment. Very highly rated by club staff and they think he is on par with Vito. Almost got a contract at Spurs a while back. Worries me that this is because we're not willing to pay the fee required to get Vito on a permanent. I was going to call the article 'Another Keeper' but I seem to remember it being that when we got Peet. More the merrier I guess!
Funny you should say that... He scored 1 in 57 at Grasshoppers. So not too far off Mcleans 7 in 52 at City ... considering he's a keeper and all
I feel sorry for Mark Oxley who a few years ago was the "future" when it comes to goalkeepers at this club. 3/4 years on... still not even on the bench. If Oxley was that good... why is he not good enough to warrant a place on a bench whilst we sign keeper after keeper. Although saying that, I'd still sign Vito; the guy is class and wants to be here!
I don't know about Peet or Cracknell, but we don't currently have a senior keeper contracted for next season. If we can have him on a free and sign Vito it gives us competition for the place. Also if we sign this other guy it takes pressure off us getting Vito, which means we can't be held to ransom on the fee by Arsenal as we won't be desperate to sign a keeper.
Always a positive way of looking at it I guess Ricardo. In reply to the comment about Oxley, he has the back of an 80 year-old woman and for that reason I don't think he'll ever make it.
Am I the only one who thought that maybe Mannone should have denied Ince tonight? If he'd have bothered to dive then I reckon he could have got a hand to it. Don't get me wrong, he's fast becoming my favourite City player and we could easily have conceded 4 with someone else in goal - he kept us in it tonight. Still, I thought it was a point worth raising.
why did we sign ghilas on a 4 year deal? why macca, kilbane, bullard, etc, etc why did we sell turner and replace him with sonko as we did? why did we chase negrado around europe before the embarrassment of his no-show? why didnt zamora sign? all the same answer i am afraid!!!
His contract expires in just under 4 months, and with his injury I would pretty much say he has. It depends on whether he has tendinitis or tendinosis - I have no idea which one, or which way round it works, but one is usually a 6 week injury layoff whilst the other is practically a permanent injury.
Agreed, I expect him to be gone due to the injury. I don't know which way round it works either, but even if it's one that he recovers from there must surely be the possibility of it recurring, or it happening in his other leg and leaving us stranded.
With Oxley, Gulasci, and Basso all likely to leave in the summer we could really do with another keeper!
Every now and again these random keepers come up out of nowhere but we never seem to actually sign them, I anticipate this being the same. I'd be very happy with Mannone and pretty much any reasonable backup next season - The injury prone tag that Vito picked up last season was total ****, he was injured and then aggravated it because Pearson played him far too early, knowing that he was far better than our other options.
It did seem strange that he had time to do a massively exaggerated "Well **** diving for that!" pose as it was going past. If he spent that time actually diving he might have got there. It was a great shot but I don't see why he didn't even dive.
I thought exactly the same, it was a good shot and probably took mannone by surprise but I reckon he would have got it if he dived.
He's back in training, but not full contact training, I think his knee problems are probably going to force his retirement and i doubt we'll see him again. It's a shame, as he was a good keeper and I'd far rather he was on the bench than Gulacsi.
Just watched the goal again on the FLS and don't think he could have saved it. It appeared to bend from outside the post back in. Cracking strike
