I would like to say very well done to Godmanchester Primary School for beating St Annes C of E 2-3 in the local schools derby football match. They were 2-0 down at Half time, but did not let their heads drop and after an excellent 2nd half ran out winners. I am very proud of them! I have seen them play since the start of the term and i have never seen them play so well.
John Bishop has finished his 'Week From Hell' for Sports Relief. Absolutely incredible, he cycled 185miles in one day, next day rowed the Channel, day 3 ran a marathon, day 4 ran another marathon, day 5 (final day) finished it off with yet another marathon!!!!!! Donate if you can, it's only a quid.
Evening all, been missing a bit while family are settling into their new home in rural France. Yesterday went on a search for plugs to put on the appliances that they brought with them. Scoured four shops to get just 9 plugs, many more are needed, but that was the entire stock in town. Anyone going to get one today will be unlucky. Mr.Bricolage is one of the larger chains of DIY suppliers, yet they had none at all. Anyone who is into stock control would be very valuable out here. Their French landlord went round this afternoon to make sure that everything was alright for them, ordered some heating oil on their behalf so that there would be no chance of them running out and took round biscuits that his wife had made for the children. We have met him a couple of times and he and his wife are really nice to know people. My English neighbour who we left behind in the UK would be horrified to find that her stereotypical image of a French farmer could not be further from the truth. My son-in-law has quite good French now but is lacking in confidence to speak it, so to get the phone line connected he chose to use the English speaking service. The trouble was so many people were trying to get through that he kept getting disconnected and it took multiple calls before he finally arranged for his line to be reinstalled, although he was given the new number for the line. Unfortunately for them they live a mile outside a village that has a choice of suppliers, but where they are there is only France Telecom/Orange, which just happens to be the most expensive.
Came across this on my travels.
it all sounds very complicated..i hope they manage to settle quickly! Lovely for you that they're there...
Evening all. How is everyone. I have just received some poo news which blows my plans out the window for tomorrow. I now have to be up at 7 in order to get myself and my stuff ready and take my sister into cambridge for her 3rd attempt at her Theory test. Then when she is done at about 10, i will have to drive home and leave straight to get to watford. Not impressed!!
