Man City and Man U are only going to get better aswell in the summer aswell. No one will get close to them. I will be surprise if Tottenham finish within 15 points off the winners and look how good Tottenham are

The PL is always going to be a three horse race for the foreseeable future, the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea. Yes Liverpool did spend more but one of those signings was Caroll... I agree with Simon it needs to be money spent wisely rather than thrown at it but when you have the vast amounts Chelsea and City have you can throw an awful lot at it and hope some sticks. The next group will also take some catching, headed by Arsenal and Liverpool Spurs have just about crept in and Newcastle will be hoping to next season or the one after that.

Although I enjoy Spurs style of play they are not going to be winning a league title in the next 4-5 years, they haven't got what it takes to keep that sustained quality of football up that it takes to win week in and week out. Teams like Spurs need to have that magical blend that all come together at the exact same time and mount a one off challenge, if they don't the best players will always be looking to leave for the glory clubs.

I can't honestly see Leeds catching Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal in the next 10-15 years if I am honest, our best chance will be youth development. If we can hit the premier league again sooner rather than later and if we can get a decent chairman in our future will depend on who we can roll off the youth system. Being a one city team the catchment area is better than most.

Man City have stolen our catchment area Ristac. Look round any astroturf pitch or sports field in Leeds and you'll see the blue scum poaching our young talent. It's sickening, truly. Our youth development has a very bleak future ahead indeed. Even those players that we do get will get snapped up by Spurs, Chelsea and co. before they can agree professional terms. The removal of the 90 minutes rule helps entrench this dreadful situation even further.

Still, we can get all the reject youngsters who should rightly have been ours back on loan when they get sacked off by the elite. :D

    You just said it yourself.

Just because you're a big club or you once were good doesn't give you a divine right to go up and within a couple of years be challenging for the ****ing title <laugh>

    ****ing hell that's deluded.

I see you either completely misread what I said or are just being deliberately obtuse. I said we had the potential to occasionally challenge for the title and that we should expect to be challenging for 4th or 5th within a few years of going up. A few meaning 5 or so in this case.

    So where is this potential?

Because the only potential I see is having a load of fans and a falling apart, but big, stadium.

What grading is your academy? Who is your most valuable player? Who wants to play for Leeds?

Just a few questions to start you off <ok>

    1. That system hasn't come into play yet, but as far as I know we have everything in place that would enable us to become a category 1 academy club
    2. Robert Snodgrass
    3. Impossible to gauge in modern football, probably more than want to play for Leicester City (apart from for easy £££)

    1) Do you even understand the meaning of Potential? Even your fellow mod understand and agree's to the potential Leeds Utd has.
    2) Have you ever been to Elland Road if so which part is "falling apart"
    3) I am from Northampton, the guy over the Road supports Leeds, several of my mates do, my cousin, my future son-in-law and the one thing we all have in common, none of us have ever lived further north than J16 of the M1 - Leeds fan base is massive, with that comes the potential and support a club needs if it is ever going to be successful, sure it needs a lot more ingredients like a big stadium, a good youth catchment area, a history and backing from a chairman, Leeds Utd only fails on one of these ingredients.

As you will be aware Leicester is just 50 minutes away from here, how many Leicester fans have I ever met or seen in Northampton zero. I see Arsenal, Spurs, Scum, Liverpool even Norwich fans from time to time but unless I travel through Leicester I rarely see a fan wearing a shirt or with a car window sticker. I meet people daily to chat to, the subject often turns to football and never have I met a Leicester fan. My work takes me weekly into Market Harborough and surrounding areas and still I never meet or see one of your supporters.

I agree this is not the best method to judge support but when I compare that to Leicester Tiger fans I have to say you are not a City known for football, Rugby and Cricket maybe...

    1) So Ken Bates is going to pay over 2 million a year on the academy? <ok> Good luck with that.
    2) So what's his worth? Why is he 24 and a half and has never played in the PL and has only played 5 senior games for Scotland? <doh>
    3) Exactly, that's my point. Money has taken over the game. It's impossible for teams to compete at the top without spending money.

    1) Because that's the difficult part, of course <doh>. Even Uncle Kenny would do that if it meant we could spend even less on bringing players in.
    2) I'd say somewhere between £6m and £10m, and I often wonder those things myself. The first part could probably be put down to loyalty, he does have a habit of turning down big names in favour of what he actually wants and thinks is best for him.
    3) And it's completely impossible for us to spend money after a few years in the Premier League? I'm not talking ridiculous Man City/Chelsea amounts. As I've said many times before, look at Spurs; big cub, managed well, spent wisely, built patiently, this is what we need to do.

    1) Oh so you think Bates will, do you? <laugh> Okay <ok> It's not difficult to have a bit of paper that lets you sign the top players from around the country, if that's what you're getting at <doh>
    2) Big names like Norwich? <doh>
    3) So Spurs have the best English manager since Sir Bobby and one of the best PL managers of all time. Who have Leeds got lined up for the job?

The statement in bold means absolutely nothing so I'll leave you to wonder why you put it there. Also, you seem to be assuming Ken Bates is going to live forever, highly unlikely, even for him. I'm talking about potential, and you're listing me reasons why we aren't challenging right now. Tell me why we don't have the potential to challenge for the title.

You dont have the potential to challenge for the title. The premier league teams havent stopped growing just because Leeds arent in the prem. Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham and Liverpool all will be at the top of the prem for a very long time to come. Leeds have the potential to break into the top 4 but no further without significant investment
