    Your argument is naive <ok>

The bottom line is, the greatest money is made by European clubs, so to have their prized possessions taken every 2 years is a pain in the butt.

What the African football federation need to realise is, if European clubs stop going for African players this will affect African football totally, revenue and quality of national teams. They have to be sympathetic to the top clubs in Europe because fans are tuning in to ACON to see how their club players do, nobody would be interested in a competition missing the biggest names.

Take night races in F1, they are only night races to suit the majority of the market .. which is Europe for Formula 1.

In any case your last comment simply confirms what I said, that clubs in Europe might stop buying African players and it is African football that will suffer, not the European clubs.

Playing the ACoN in the Summer would a.) reduce its profile greatly as it would clash with the Euros, assuming they'd be played in the same years. If they're every two years and not clashing with the Euros then they'll have to be either side of a World Cup which is far from ideal and b.) restrict the number of nations that can host it.

The ideal solution would be to play it every four years in the January before the Euros, when most of Europe has a break. Playing less frequently would make it more special imo and if there was no football in Europe at the same time it would surely raise the profile and not piss clubs off so much.

I never said they were....maybe some one needs to learn to understand what they read!
Some of Africa is exceedingly hot in our summer months...maybe you should just accept that other people have a right to have a competition when it suits them rather than when it suits us....simples

And some of africa is very hot in january. Some is hot all year round. Not really valid. I expect they hold it in january for tv reasons and not wanting to clash with the euros. i.e. money reasons

If that's the case with F1 why are more and more races being run in the middle and far east ?
I think the European market is slowly being eroded.Eccleston has been threatening to scrap the British grand prix for years

Much of that is desert. And much of it straddles the equator and is therefore irrelevent when you play. <doh>

Shouldn't you be doing your school lessons rather than ****ing about on the internet <whistle>
There's a hell of a lot of Africa that doesn't straddle the equator.
The upshot is when the African confederation chooses to hold it's championship is up to them

Of course it is. But they should do it in the summer because its very frustrating to lose players mid season.

Why should they do it ? It's their competition and it's up to them when they hold it.Not every country in Europe holds their football season in our winter

Ok, you do have a good point. Maybe I should rethink my views. I just find it frustrating when we lose players every year. I guess we know this before we buy the players though and so should factor that in to players value.

    Absolutely wrong GoonerC.

I think you will find the races in the middle east are scheduled for better European viewing, they are not set to suit the middle east. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (I think) starts as a daytime race and ends as a night time race. The scrapping of the British grand prix was about facilities and money - Ecclestone can get far more money from another country, there are so many waiting to be added to the calendar but it has nothing to do with the european market

Disagree again with this. Russia run their season completely different times to us, but they must adhere to the rest of Europe when it comes to European competitions. Most of Europe run their seasons at similar times, those that don't do not get preferential treatment, so while they can do what they want in their own league, they have to follow us for everything else <ok>

    Why should the ACON change?
It has a long and proud history...its older than the Euros.
Its is so unbelievably arrogant for Eiripean clubs and fans to complain about it cos they find it inconvenient.

PNEawf - I am struggling to see what is so difficult for RememberColinlee to understand. That is the bottom line - fine - keep your tournament how you want it, but when African football goes down the pan as a result don't come complaining to us !

Europe employs the best African players so Africa needs to keep Europe sweet.

Russia is in EUROPE and so they ahve to adjust to fit UEFA's schedule
The ACON is held by AFRICA and so they can do what they want

As an African Gunner, yes its frustrating to lose guys like Song and Gervihno for ACON, but we Africans alos take pride in our football and if the African Players want to play in Europe and the European clubs buy them then they shouldn't complain when their Country calls them up for ACON

Well then if they don't care about their country the they can feck off.
As an African I'd rather watch an ACON of "2nd rate players" with passion, than an ACOn with Prima-Donas who don't give a 100%
