Because he has been chucked in it and his purchases have had less than 6 games so far to prove themselves. The real culprits, and let's not forget that I am one of those who thinks that Warnock was not given a proper chance, are the players he bought, Bothroyd, Barton, SWP, Ferdinand and Gabbidon. They have had three quarters of a season to roll up their sleeves and do the business. I am not quite ready yet to crucify Diakite after 30 minutes, Zamora after 3 games, Onuoha who has been forced to play out of position since he joined and Cisse for an understandable but totally innocuous reaction to a very dangerous tackle.

Your post Oslo suggests that you too are one of those who seem to expect instant success simply because of prior reputations. They count for nothing.

No, I had no expectation of instant success with MH -his history told another story. Given our position near the bottom of the PL, if we needed to change Manager, which I am not convinced was necessary, we would have been better off with one more likely to give instant success. But I suppose with O'Neil new in at Sunderland there wasn't that kind available.

I actually do think that the better players SHOULD be more adaptable and be more capable of clicking with other players (lesser and of a similar standard).

I think teams would be pretty naive if they bought players for vast fees and wages who could only play in one system for one manager. All professionals can kick a ball it's the etherial aspects - presence, vision, versatility that stand the great players apart.

Wow, interesting thread. Well articulated arguments put and points debated. Ethereal Matty? Never heard that applied to football but it certainly works! Just goes to show what a literate lot us Rs are on the quiet!

Anyway, my point's bit glib compared to you lot.

In the QPR clique stakes, looks like Smiffy's just put the Champs one nil up. Seems the Chumps, Frenchies and Bartons are reserving comment atm!

Never glib Brix - when you've got time, your posts are always thought provoking and wonderfully explained but it's been getting a bit tetchy around these parts so guess you've got your work cut out.
