I'd be gutted if Pompey went, I'm the same as everyone else when I feel sorry for the true fans etc etc (I'm sure you've heard it all before)

I wouldnt give a toss if we won the title or got promoted because of the skates going bust.
Pompey had a chance to run there club responsibly after last times admin, but just carried on regardless.
You know you would get all the West Ham fans whinging about it,but they can hardly claim the moral high ground after they shafted Sheff Utd by cheating with Tevez.

The best scenario would be for them to go bust on April 8th,after we have smashed them 6-0. That would look good in the history books.

I am not looking at any team individually, just how far we would from the lottery of the play-offs. Presently Reading are in that position, but it would be West Ham if Pompey are wound up. All I am saying is that, assuming the teams just below us win their game(s) in hand, then we will less comfortably placed wrt automatic places. Either that, I have misread the table and make a mess of my analysis. Can someone who is not dosed up with painkillers like me right now check it please?

You know, you're almost certainly right. There is enough intrigue in the question to make it interesting. Have a pie piece..!

Looking at things purely from a Saints-Promotion point of view, having that Easter Saturday free would be handy in preparation for our Easter Monday trip to Palace. Everyone around us, plus Palace, are presumably playing twice in three or four days over that weekend, which is far from ideal.

And give it straight back. It's trivial, not trivia!

    Now that's being trivial.

Ah I see what you're saying, Reading lost to Portsmouth so we'd lose one point and they wouldn't lose any. But West Ham would lose 6, so I think on balance it helps our promotion bid rather more than it hinders it.

One thing I'm curious about: what will HMRC's share of the vote be if another CVA comes out of this? Pompey survived last time because HMRC was adjudged to have less than the 25% necessary to block the implementation...if they have a greater proportion now, I'm not sure how they escape, as I cannot see HMRC taking 4p on the pound when they previously fought tooth and nail against 20p.

And at this point, I wonder whether it might be better for Pompey to give up the ghost; I don't at all want to see them liquidated and the rivalry destroyed, but each day seems to bring another revelation, and none of them good.

From the league's point of view would be best if Pompey limped on with academy players if necessary. But this would also be unfair on the relegation/promotion battles as it's an advantage to meet them if they played youth players..they still have to play us, Reading and Birmingham. You could have a situation where a team that scores a lot of goals could really stuff them and get a massive GD and....sounds a bit better now I've typed it.

As I recall, even the secured creditors who would get payed back 100% of what they were owed get to vote on accepting the CVA? If that is true, pretty sure the outcome would be the same as last time. Especially as HMRC's original debt would have been reduced by 80%?

Or maybe I have the wrong end of the stick completely?

Tbf, that situation is just an amplified version of meeting a team with a long injury list and being in the grip of a run of bad form. These things happen. No team will meet another in exactly the same condition. I seem to remember Saints shedding lots of players and fielding a team of kids, not so long ago.

I agree. The last thing I want is the Skates telling me that we only went up cos they 'let' us.

Don't think do, it would be worse for our promotion prospects if they went bust coz if the teams behind us win their games in hand then we would be 1 point from 3rd instead of 2 points as it would be now if those teams won their games in hand.

    That's right, right?

I do hope they last until the end of the season in the spirit of competitiveness. The club is rotten though and someone with good intentions wanting to buy it would need to be a fan/fans or proper mental. The fans don't have the money and their best hope of finding someone willling to burn their money is if a fan wins the Euromillions. They should fold it up and start again with an AFC.
