The team is crying out for forward-minded midfielders or strikers who are comfortable on the ball and can hold it up for long enough for players to get in good positions. We're not Spain and attempting to play one touch football is just painful at times.
People are seriousily making arguments that Lambert and Lallana should be in the England team? Jesus wept. Lallana maybe in a few years when he's established in the Premier League, however there are way too many top level players ahead of him, I'd be surprised if they were even an afterthought of Capello's, Pearce or Redknapps plans.
The one small problem with what you've said is that Pearce was at St Mary's a couple of weeks back. Why he was there I don't know, but the signs are that it's for Lallana, Cork and One Other of our team were possibly going to the Olympics. Maybe not an afterthought, but maybe an after-afterthought?
If Lallana wants to play for England then he needs to go up this season and then probably have two great seasons in the Premiership. Lambert will never be involved, he would have to be about five years younger to get a chance. Lallana can't go to the Olympics so best to let that one go as well.
Everyone who says Pearce was watching us, he was also watching Burnley, and he watched them against Reading too (I think it was them anyway), so it's probably more likely he was looking at someone from their team.
The only reason you are saying that is because you are a Saints fan. What about Zaha or Redmond? Palace and Birmingham fans will have been saying exact same thing. On the face of it Downing has far more experience for England and in the Premiership so it just makes sense to pick him. Be realistic.
Everyone knows Lallana is better than Zaha and Redmond. Both overrated speedsters, suits Zaha far more than Redmond.
Trippier and Rodriguez probably. Cork also when he came here. Lallana turned 24 last month and as far as I know isn't eligible for the Olympics. Maybe he's hoping Morgan will ditch France too!
