Six points if they fail to fullfill their remaining fixtures! I have absolutely no sympathy after the way they behaved when turning down repeated bids for their players. If they were desperate they should have bitten our arms off for the cash. As the old saying goes Pride before a Fall! I will be pissed off if we lose the 6 points as the teams below us will lose fewer as it stands. http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=20294&title=pompey_might_not_finish_season Good luck Norris you money grabbing ****!
Wow. So we could be in a situation where the promotion and relegation places could be affected by whether they complete the season. I have sympathy for the fans but not for anyone else. Good riddance.
Got no sympathy for pompey. They had a scare before when they went into admin but didn't learn anything. Time for them to go out of business, it's all their own doing after all!
Serves them right imo! They offered Norris higher wages and a longer contract when they weren't in any position to afford it. Mind you I would have happily driven Norris there but thats another story!
Although we need players I'm glad we didn't get any of the pompey lads. It was clear they didn't want to join us so I don't think they would have given everything for us anyway. I know most players are just mercenaries but I at least expect them to play the game and show some sign of interest in playing for Ipswich otherwise what's the point?
There is no way that three teams should suffer relegation because of pompey. It couldn't happen anyway because it would mess up the numbers in each league. If pompey go down the drain then two teams from non league should gain promotion to make the numbers equate.
Its got legal challenges written all over this! As usual the only ones that will be jumping for joy are the ****ing lawyers!
I think that's right Weighty. When Chester City where booted oot the league a few years back, only three were relegated from the Conference National - usually it's four.
I'm sure there won't be any legal challenges... 11 Replacement of Clubs Ceasing to be Members 11.1 Admission of new Clubs. For so long as the number of Clubs in The League shall be 72 or more no new club shall be admitted as a member of The League to replace a Club ceasing to be a member. In the event of the number of Clubs falling to below 72 the Board shall be empowered to admit clubs as new members up to a maximum number of 72 Clubs. Such new members shall only be admitted prior to the beginning of a Season, and shall play in League 2 in their first Season. 12 Retirement and Admission of Clubs 12.1 Clubs retiring from The League pursuant to Regulations Promotion, Relegation and Play-Offs and Replacement of Clubs Ceasing to be Members shall retire with effect from the end of the relevant Season, whereupon new Clubs taking their places shall be admitted and be deemed to have been formally elected as members of The League. With effect from such time any new Club shall become entitled to receive a transfer of and to exercise the rights attaching to such share in The League held by the retiring Club as the Board shall direct and each of the retiring Clubs shall procure that, with effect from such date and until the respective transferee Club has been registered as the holder of its share in the Register of Members of The League, the rights attaching thereto shall be exercised in such manner as such transferee Club shall direct. 12.2 Cessation of membership. If a Club (or Clubs) ceases to be a member of The League for any reason (including, without limitation, pursuant to Article 4 of the Articles of Association or by way of relegation or expulsion for disciplinary reasons): 12.2.1 during any Normal Playing Season, its playing record shall be expunged and the number of relegation places from the relevant Division for that Season shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members; 12.2.2 during the period between the end of the Normal Playing Season and the conclusion of the last Play-Off Match for that Season, its playing record shall not be expunged but the number of relegation places from the relevant Division for that Season shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members; or 12.2.3 during the period between the conclusion of the last Play-Off Match and the start of the following Season, its playing record shall not be expunged but the number of relegation places from the Division in which a Club would have played but for its cessation of membership, shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members and, during that Season, the relevant Division shall operate with a reduced number of Clubs.
Hamps any chance of an executive summary from all that?? Personally I cannot see how the league can, relegate 3 teams or deduct points from other teams if they fail to fullfill their remaining fixtures. Although I geuss it is unfair on the teams who haven't played them twice yet if we are not deducted points. Surely though teams who cannot fullfill matches automatically hand over the 3 points to the opposition. I have sympathy for Norris, not getting paid is not nice, not knowing what your future holds with a family. He always gives 100% no matter how cr*p I though he was. Who would blame him at that stage of his career to earn the bigger contract. Although who ever runs/ran the club deserves no sympathy. I would have still liked to and still would like to get at least Pearce from Portsmouth. The transfer saga seemed to be a complete farce. I bet 1 month on they would have jumped at the chance. I can understand why the chose not to join tbh if there was noone at the top saying we need you to leave, they must've thought well, Portsmouth clearly have a new owner lined up and Ipswich are on a 7 game loosing run looking like they might get relegated. Its clear how poorly organised and managed things are at portsmouth when Jewell didn't know who to speak to regarding the deals and didn't even get chance to speak to the players themselves. Its just a shambles.
pompey's results thus far would be expunged, simple as that. you'd lose your 6 points gained against them, pompey would disappear as if they never existed, two teams would go down this season instead of three in your 23-team division and the loss of a team would be accounted for through the extra promotion place somewhere further down the league pyramid in may lets hope for everyones sake it doesn't come to that.
Sorry that some of you feel the way you do. You are right of course, my club has behaved despicably, we are all upset about the situation and it looks like we are close to folding. I just would say though, try very hard for a minute or two, to imagine how it would feel for you, in this situation to wake up one morning, to the dread moment of sleepy morning realisation, that your club went pop the day before. It isn't coming back, that's it, gone forever......
You'd think that some of these multi billionaire owners would chip in a few quid each and raise the £1.6m it needs to stay afloat. Or, the FA would let them sell a player or two to raise the funds. Surely its worth bending the rules slightly than letting a club go out of existence. Seriously, if I was Abramovic, or the other fella at Man city, I'd give them the money to help em out.
You and West Ham will be the biggest losers if Pompey go. But if they do go only 2 teams will be relegated from the championship
The six points won't make any difference to our situation. pompeymeowth - as someone who lived in North End myself on the Toronto Road, I do know what it'll feel like for you guys if that happens... but within a decade I'm sure there'd be league football back on the island.
