As a follow up to the "who's for the drop" thread, I've looked into the remaining games for the bottom six and awarded results, based on the reverse fixture,

This is the formula I used:

    Reverse fixture (away)

Won = new fixture at home WIN
Score draw = new fixture at home WIN
0-0 = new fixture at home DRAW
Lost by 1 = new fixture at home WIN
Lost by 2 = new fixture at home DRAW
Lost by 3+ = new fixture at home LOSE

    and vice-versa
    Reverse fixture at home

Won by 3+ = new fixture away WIN
Won by 2 = new fixture away DRAW
Won by 1 = new fixture away LOSE
0-0 = new fixture away DRAW
score draw = new fixture away LOSE
Lost = new fixture away LOSE

Bottom 6, using this formula would look like this:

    19...Millwall -------- 56
    20...Bristol City -----51
    21...POMPEY ------- 48
    -----------------------
    22...Coventry ------ 44
    23...Forest --------- 43
    24...Doncaster ----- 39

Obviously I'd be super-duper-delighted if the final table looked like this, but what do you think the chances are?

As the team with the most 6-pointers, we need to guarentee the full 3 points in each of these games - should we acheive that, I would love us to stay up at Forest just to listen to Cotterill's press conference....

"We were the better team throughout, the 4-5-1 formation I have played every week has worked, we have conceded few - we should have won it!"

    Forest 0 - Pompey 4.

    Beautiful.

Our first two 6 pointers are on the 17th and 24th of march, vs Bristol city at home and Coventry away. I'm confident we can take 4 points at least. There is a lot of football between now and the end of the season. Have a decent team especially at the back and a very good manager. Keep the Faith

    PLAY UP POMPEY

mike don't forget the bemoaning of key refereeing decisions when forest would be 3-0 down.

Ahhh, I forgot the classic line "Had we taken our chance in the first-half then we would have dominated and won the game" - No, Mr Cotterill, you would have had to take 4 chances.

My cousins husband is a massive forest fan, was sat in the Fratton End with me for that game and even he was up, cheering and applauding Pompey at the end of the game.

My secret formula to believing we can stay up this season, is to drink as much strong lager as I can cope with ,before falling over and then not worrying at all about our league position.<ok> Works for me, try it some time....<laugh>

Stands to reason that this/these are very wise position/s to take. <cheers>

  8. In that case SB3, I don't fancy your chances of staying up at all. Tie to some foam rubber to all the edges and sharp corners in your house would be my advice.

Funny how when a player/manager leaves, the blue tinted specs come off and you realise that what we said at the striped end of the M27 was true about him. I have no problem with Voldemort by the way. He seems to have a much more sensible attitude about him. Shame he has such a difficult job as his first one. I am sure he wouldn't have realised just how tricky it was going to get.

Can only imagine CF. Within a few days of taking charge of us, our Antonov had been arrested and assets frozen. Been downhill since then, but he has been the shining light.

    In Applemort we trust.

Sounds as if sb3 has been falling over quite a lot in his blue few years.
Pop in the Alex before the game at St Mary's and I will bye you a pint before you take another nose dive. Let's not hope it's the game that sends you down.

I Think if you had Mr Birch in earlier, your club would of definitely seen the season out, maybe not such a strong team and relegation more on the cards but a Club some what intact.
I would hate if you folded.
    1. It would stop us from having the pleasure of giving you a good drubbing and get the bragging rights back.
    2. I would not be able to spend my few free minutes i get having a chuckle on your board at your expense.

Maybe I should try to come up with a new thread - Pompey's formula for staying in business! :emoticon-0107-sweat

unfortunately all the statements made by TB in the last few days make it seem like staying in business would be a much bigger achievement than staying up this season. obviously the two help each other out but the news just gets more and more and more depressing, why do i get the feeling that there's more to come?

Is it something like 'feed the scummers?' Cause that was funny, & being so solvent almost ironic.
