Nope, I love the freedom. It's the oppression I hate. Without a compulsory state, this land would be a far better place. <ok>

Just because it is good relative to immensely **** ones doesn't mean it's not still hugely ****.

I'm glad for you. That doesn't mean that other people aren't oppressed, though.

'Public disorder' can be victimless because you can be arrested without physically harming someone, or indeed for physically harming someone who actively wants to be physically harmed. Victimless crime. And your anti-drug argument is laughable.

And they're evil laws which only a bad person would enforce.

No. I was born here, have lived here all my life and am speaking up for my right to self-determination and personal liberty. The true invaders who need to be kicked out are those who oppress other people. The UK is just another country, and I long for the day it dies.

Nope, because they were oppressive attacks on innocent people. Now that Guy Fawkes on the other hand... <whistle>

I have blocked him from this board because I don't want a thread about the death of a brave man to be spoilt by this crap, he deserves better.

I think the answer is this.

Moat was a stupid, vile, worthless individual. So is the poster.

Moat did something (horrible) and got his picture in the papers. The poster has never done anything.

The poster identifies with and admires Moat.

Well done for blocking the poster. I was having a real hard time trying to control my emotions after reading his vile drivel !

Back to the original reason for the thread - RIP David Rathbone.

I can't agree with the outpouring of love for our police force. Its sad the lad has chosen to take his own life and that he had his life ruined by some mong. However I dislike the police immensely, completely corrupt organisation full of arrogant pricks who abuse their position. As always they're not all like that but quite a significant number are. This is from personal experience and from having a lorry load of family who are police. My brother left once he discovered it was not what he signed up for. His partner is still in and finds a lot of her colleagues a disgrace in the way they conduct themselves. The backstabbing that goes on to get on aswell is unreal.

They are of course handicapped by a load of targets set and other government procedures which make their jobs ten times as hard. Does that excuse their behaviour? Not really. Could I agree with Iqbal though? No you're anger seems to be with the laws of this country. Sure the police pick and choose when they enforce the law, but they certainly don't decide whats right and wrong which is what you seem to be driving at.

People who hate the police do not all hate them because they are breaking the law though, that's just silly. Some people have several very bad experiences with the police, and the police handle a lot of cases very poorly indeed through arrogance and not giving due care and attention. This breeds a lack of faith in the work they do, no one is responsible for that except the police force themselves. That isn't coming from me and my bad experiences, that is coming from some of their own officers!

Sorry mate disagree with your actions here.

PM the lad and tell him his views aren't appreciated in the thread by all means. (Then if he continued to post he would bring it on his own head.)
To ban him for having a different outlook on things, not for me.
Do I agree with what he was saying?
    Nope.

As to the OP very sad indeed, must have been a terrible time for the whole family since the events took place.

This is at the end of the day an (extended) private conversation.

Correct. Sorry if you put up a thread on an individual (particularly on football boards when not football related), you have to accept all of the comments you get. Its a free world and no one is qualified to judge what is right and wrong. Its just opinions.

I've had this recently where a thread about Whitney Houston was put up, and because I didn't have very much respect for her, I expressed it only to see the thread closed. People put these RIP threads up and then expect only those in agreement to post? Bizarre for me that on a public forum. Once you put it out there its fair game.

Once again find myself agreeing with BallSack.

But I also agree with Syd, this wasn't the place for a diatribe about oppression.
Tell the lad to open his own thread to vent.

Moat claimed another victim plus of course the policemans family. Are the police great?? But no unarmed person doing his job, which is in effect an emergency service, should be shot like he was.

Syd if some plonker of a keyboard warrior wants to spoil this thread by all means ban them or whatever.

To me it's nothing to do with free speech, its a word no longer used, respect. Not respect for posters who can speak for themselves but respect for the person who has died, who cant.

I don't agree entirely due to having worked within the justice system for a while, are some policemen twats? Yep, but so are some electricians, brickies, bus drivers and bankers. What none of that excuses, and I'm sure you'll agree, is people celebrating the life of a man who indiscriminately decided to shoot another man (husband and father) simply because of the uniform he was wearing and the car he was sitting in.

Separate point though, I know what you mean. When I went to the Riverside in our championship season and tried to talk two of us (not in toon gear) past the escort to the station because we were meeting Boro mates for food, only to be answered with 'does it look like I'm in charge' I was stunned. I worked in a prison at the time (admin work) and if any member of staff at any level responded to a prisoner like that they'd be rightly reprimanded, while this twat felt it was fine because we were football fans. Thankfully my faith was restored by the bloke two along from him, who wasn't a moron.

Well if it is a public forum then we can't really ban anyone for anything that's not a criminal offence. The moderators do ban poster, delete posts, etc, for a variety of reasons from being offensive to being boring. If this is a public forum then that should never happen.

In fact this is a private forum, in the sense that a pub or restaurant is a private establishment. Like a pub, anyone is welcome to walk in. Like a pub, you can get barred for being a twat.

A private forum where views that toe the line are allowed, those that don't are bad?
We are now just as bad as the lad who got booted as we are arguing in this sad thread.
    Should we be booted too?
Or just me, as I never toe the line.
