I do not know if there is any truth in this report but if so this is out of order, what is up with these fans... http://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway_messenger/sport/2012/march/1/andy_hessenthaler.aspx? Pulling a player off to partly protect him from the fans, unbelievable that something like that has to happen?
brb - from my 'shed' ( Gordon Road ) I didn't hear any of the crowd getting at Evans. As I said in another thread Jack had a nightmare start to the game - I feared we would get mauled before half time - but was glad that Hess gave kept him on the pitch until then. Evans has (otherwise) done well in his games. I am sure that he will learn fron his ' experiences ' on Tuesday - this is where Hess will need to say the right things to him.
It seems strange to me, that is why I question re the reporting. Because when I went on the previous Tuesday's really low attendance, there was no abuse and the fans were more positive (hard core imo). Then I read some reports about the 'game I missed' and that seemed positive from the aspect of support. Now if you never heard it from your 'shed', I assume it could not have been the RE but people in close vicinity of Hessy for him to hear it? Unless like all papers they are making up a load of b******* Why would anyone get on the case of an 18 year old, that's just bullying.
I saw the highlights on the Beeb and saw some fans running towards Evans after the first two goals. Of course this proves nothing but when I first saw it I was a little puzzled but assume they were hurling abuse towards the ref. More worryingly it that I thought bringing Lee on changed the game, but now I am worried to hear that it wasn't a tactical change but a change to protect a player...
brb - it's not the media - Hess said that he heard it ( Medway stand technophobes ?) It would have been too easy for Hess to immediately take Evans off @ 0-2, but he took a gamble. Evans recovered a fair bit, and made a great run and cross for the disallowed goal. I can understand that Jack would have been upset by his mistakes and what he may have heard said in the crowd, ( I can appreciate their reaction - it was, after all, two costly mistakes in quick succession so early in the game - would have made anybody wish they were at work !) I feel comfortable enough to keep him in the side for Saturday - but as I have said, Hess needs to take Evans to one side and say the right things to him.
brb a disgrace if it did occur but like the rest on this thread I did not hear it and as you know I am in the RE, in fact I would say the opposite happened and everything he did following the 2nd goal at least got applause, but his confidence just fell away after the penalty which for a lad of his age and experience is understandable. He has played well up to Tuesday night and should get back into the team, although after Lee's performance that may be difficult. UTG!!
I'm Rainham End, Block 1 and sadly did hear a couple of derogatory comments towards Jack. Having said that, it was only a couple and I firmly believe that they would have been said no matter who the full back was. Problem was, the lack of noise at the time meant he would have heard them quite clearly and it's enough to dent anyone's confidence let alone someone of such a tender age. I'm hoping that from our fans it was merely a target for letting out frustrations and nothing more.
Tom Tom thats a shame, I am in Block 4 halfway up and did not hear it. What can YOU say tw*ts come to mind. UTG!!
Jack has the ability to actually be on the pitch unlike the morons who abused him.......so lets just accept it for that. Jack, if he has the ability....and I'm sure he has will rise above it. UTG
Barkhuizen was the best player for Hereford, Jack didn't get it wrong he was just out played by someone from the Championship, it happens, as we knew in advance how good he was why wasn't jack getting any cover. Even after the 1st penalty/goal how is it that Barkhuizen beat Jack and then had a clear run on goal. I'm sorry but the senior players/captain have to take responsibilty for the "mistakes", and Jack wasn't on the pitch so can't be blamed for Barkhuizen second goal when he had a free run on goal whilst the defense stood and watched, and the Gazza penalty where again Barkhuizen had a free run at goal. Join the Jack Evans is innocent campaign!
Hi Rocky, Got a little carried away there Just winds me up when some people want to blame someone all the time, Barkhuizen was just a cut above and would/will skin most defenders in this league.
I wholeheartedly agree with Rocky. I think that after the defensive performances up to recently and the way he seems to have settled in, fans should cut him a bit of slack. From the video on BBC in seems that the penalty he gave away was just a bit of untidy defending as he apparently didn't even get booked for it, and for the second goal he appeared just a bit too frightened to put in a tackle, probably quite rightly. Just good play from a quality forward. From what I've heard he's got a lot of promise, and hope he's still playing later this month when Gills turn up in this part of the world again.
it's a big shame, but jack evans is not playing tomorrow at plymouth...like i say, what a shame that is, because the away support would of helped him no end, would of given him the confidence back going in to tuesdays game at home v barnet...he's said on his twitter page...out with a groin injury, hopefully back tuesday !
gills, oxon - just seen that on twitter, I can remember him saying the day after the game on twitter that he had a painful groin.
brb, yes mate, shame for the lad to have to wait a bit longer to put it right...which i'm sure he will ! look at me, he's effecting my head now, i'm starting to sound like hess...calling jack the lad...no pun intended your right though brb, regards 4 4 2 and obita, that all of a sudden after not even a sign of hess using the 4 4 2 tactic, we are possibly going to play it due to obita coming in...very confusing that no other players we have, have been used in this formation more often than now...or at all??? don't confuse hoadie either brb...interesting answers !!!
gills, oxon - sometimes I get a bit passionate and want to go and bang my head against a brick wall but know it will hurt I've been on other forums stating it as well but no one seems to get it or so I thought. The trouble is you read the responses elsewhere and you know they are more interested in posting than reading what you are actually trying to say. I am not having a go at this new signing or even questioning his ability. He sounds like the sort of player I love. My problem is what you have already sussed that I am saying. Very confusing indeed.
brb totally agree...i've read other forums also and get the same impression, thing is you need to stick with what you believe and be clear, sometimes (or most) comments comeback in response to what we write and you either think...what the **** or have i just worded that right, because your not seeing the picture your fishing for on return, which can sometimes mislead you from what you wanted to say or ask....sure you know what i mean ! this jordan obita does sound like whats needed....hopefully, but needed about 20 games ago, not when points are down the drain, due to us only having one plan and formation 433 to work with...well add 451 to that which i don't like when your looking for more than one point a game !!! myself, i'd play 442 with kuffour & tomlin up top...kuffour has been stingy of late, but he has a magic spark and think he offers more than keds of late ! regards evans not playing, looks like charlie lee will play right back again, which is a shame...really want lee in central midfield and as captain also..think him & whelps will start to shine now. read somewhere, that they said they play better in the second part of the season...so lets hope they keep to there word !!!
