How did Ashley Young get in the England squad? He's been injured and/or not playing for the last few months, and other than his assist for Giggs goal on Sunday he hasn't done anything to deserve a place in the squad. I also think he's wasted playing as a support striker.
Because up until he got injured he'd become a regular in the England side, scoring goals and linking with Rooney. Now he's fit he's back in, simple as that. He's picked based on what he's done in his previous England games, absolutely deservedly. It's not like he's been brought back in after a period of poor form, he's been injured.
I'm not English so it doesn't really matter, but like the title says, I was curious as to how he's got picked as he hasn't played well for United since September-October. Figures he'd score tonight though.
The side that England put out against Holland seemed to consist of 'nearly men' i.e. players on the fringes of the first 11, most of whom were injured or absent anyway. As such, I think Young deserved his place. PS) In addition to the Giggs assist at Norwich, he scored past Ajax in A'dam
There seemed to be a few injured players getting game time in the friendly I think it was good for utd so not really overly concerned
I'd like to think Ashley Young read my post and set out to prove me wrong. I was also hoping this post would disappear into the interwebs wasteland. Oh well, I guess I deserve this.
