Who's the pussies here? The RAF or that band of merry men run by Col Gaddafi?

Let's just hope it never happens - pointless loss of life will follow which in turn will be followed the Muslim Brotherhood gaining control of an oil-rich country thanks, mainly, to Britain and France.

    Good move uh??

    You Western fools

It is in the tradition of Mohammed (pbuh) to declare a ceasefire when faced with superior opposition and then break it when you are stronger

Once this ridiculous UN turns its attention elsewhere we will finish the job

Residents of the Libyan city of Benghazi say that forces loyal to Colonel Gadaffi have invaded it.

Reports from the rebel-held stronghold say a warplane has crashed in flames, that there are tanks on the streets and that gunfire and explosions can be heard.

The reports run contrary to a statement from the Libyan Government that it is observing a ceasefire.

A rebel leader said that roads to the east are congested with carloads of what he described as 'terrified families'. He said all areas of the city are under bombardment.

The head of the rebel National Libyan Council has insisted that the international community must act swiftly to protect civilians from Gaddafi's forces.

'Now there is a bombardment by artillery and rockets on all districts of Benghazi,' Mustafa Abdel Jalil told Al-Jazeera.

'The international community is late in intervening to save civilians from Gaddafi's forces.

'Today in Benghazi there will be a catastrophe if the international community does not implement the resolutions of the UN Security Council,' he said.

'We appeal to the international community, to the all the free world, to stop this tyranny from exterminating civilians.'

    Paris summit to discuss action

High level talks on whether to impose a no-fly zone in Libya are under way in Paris.

The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are meeting ahead of broader international talks with Arab leaders this afternoon.

Air forces are said to be on stand-by to enforce a UN Security Council resolution.

The Security Council voted yesterday to permit 'all necessary measures' to establish a no-fly zone, protect civilian areas and impose a ceasefire on Gaddafi's military.

European leaders in Paris for the talks include Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, which is not expected to participate in any action.

Earlier today, ambassadors from the 28 NATO states met in Brussels to discuss plans for possible NATO involvement in enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya, but took no decision.

The French Ambassador to the UN, Gerard Araud, has said he expected that there would be military intervention in Libya within hours of the Paris summit.

US President Barack Obama has said Libyan government forces must end their attacks on rebel-held towns and retreat, or face military action.

Mr Obama said the terms of a UN Security Council resolution backing action to defend civilians were 'not negotiable'.

    Dublin protest

About 50 members of the Libyan community in Ireland have gathered in Dublin city centre this afternoon to protest against Colonel Gaddafi.

They are calling for the international community to impose a no-fly zone in Libya.

Many people carrying posters saying 'Stop the genocide in Libya' and 'Free Libya'.

Protestors said they had not heard from their families in Libya in days.

A UN security resolution. The international equivalent of a touchline ban.
