I see you are a newbie. What names are your older accounts in? Be surprised if you start wumming on a new forum immediately unless you have been posting as another name or names?

Modric has 4 more years left on his contract this summer and IF sold wont be leaving on the cheap, and I doubt Levy will deal with any PL club (unless its an absurd offer) so if he wants to go it will be abroad.

Harry has been great for Spurs and ideally I wouldnt want to lose him, but I just have a nagging thought in the back of my mind that another (tactically superior) manager could quite possibly take us up one more level. We have the squad of players (with 2 or 3 quality additions) to challenge for the title, maybe a more astute manager could take us there.

I think he's from the Scottish Rangers, mentioned Gazza playing for "us". So is either from the bankrupt club or forgot what user account he was signed in as?

Leaving aside the fact that you didn't respond to what the OP created the thread to debate, can you not see the difference in the language you're using now compared to your original comment?

I've bolded some of it to help you <ok>

On the topic, no, I wouldn't consider Modric particularly traitorous. The fact he's done his best this year when others in his shoes did not makes him at least half good in my eyes. The fact that he was central to some wonderful displays this year tells me I'll forgive him for leaving, if he does.

On the other hand, the fact that most football players are highly paid mercenaries may lead me to lose at least some interest, eventually.

As to whether it would be a sign of the oncoming apocalypse? I dunno, left my crystal ball at home. Things certainly could unravel, as they could for any club. If I had to bet, I'd say probably not, at least in the middling run. A London club with a rich history is likely to find a big buyer eventually who'll foot a big wage bill.

  18. I think everything depends upon (a) whether or not Harry actually does leave - and there is now every chance that the FA may appoint Stuart Pearce as England manager, and (b) if he is appointed England manager, who replaces him.

It could well be the case that we end up getting in an absolutely top-notch manager, better than Harry, who every player in the world would love to work with.

And even if Moddy does leave, we'll get a king's ransom for him from some mugs, like £ity, with which the new manager can bring in a couple of marque signings, including a play-maker and a striker.

Incidentally, when I wrote my OP I was a little worse for ware, having been to a meeting at which plenty of free vino was on offer, and I may not have made it clear that my post was written very much with tongue-in-cheek. I'd rather Moddy not leave, because I think he is sheer class and at the hub of the great football we are playing (the weekend's debacle excepted); but he's not the only play-maker in the world, and we are a club that has always managed to sign the flair players - Hoddle, Waddle, Gazza, and Ginola to name but four of the players that I have seen play, over the years.
