.....not a chance of holt being called up. why call up a man bang in form when you can get a young player who "may" be the start of the new generation, just like lamps, terry gerrard etc were going to win everything when they were labeled the new generation. do other countries do the new generation thing?other than germany recently). no they integrate and progress, older players are dropped when their usefullness is over, not kept on as pensioners.

if man u had favoured youth potential over older experience last weekend we'd be 3 points the richer right now!

Agreed, goldeneadie, plus of course these younger 'new golden generation <doh>' players are going to learn a lot more from being utilised alongside players with greater experience.

Both on the pitch and in the dressing room/training ground a few words of advice, praise and guidance from an older, more experience is bound to help with their longer term development.

That's my take on it anyhow!

He is English isn't he? Carlisle is so close to the border that with Russ Martin playing for Scotland tonight, the under resourced Scottish FA might go for him. McHolt.

I came on here recently and said if Holt ever played for England i would bare my arse in the centre circle at Carrow road, nothing has changed.
Just a thought, if Pearce had given him the call, would Lambert have given him the go ahead bearing in mind that he rested him for the cup game as he wanted him fresh for the ManU match, as he thought 3 points were more important than giving City the best chance of FA cup glory.
I know the usual suspects will come back and say survival in the Prem is more important than the cup, but you lot were safe before the ManU game, big mistake on Lamberts part.

I'd love Holty to be picked, but at the expense of monarch's wrinkled arse on display at Carrow Road?

Would have to give that serious thought!

what is this nonsense about the cup game all about? you are a colchester fan - what has it got to do with you? lambert played a very strong team in the cup which was more than capable of beating leicester whilst giving a breather to one or two. we lost to the better team on the day. how is that so hard to comprehend? we were on a cup run of two games, yes thats right, two games! if holt had been called up there is not a manager in this world who would have prevented him joining up and you know it. utterly stupid post on your behalf <doh>

First and formost Super I'm a football fan, (pause whilst waiting for the Colchester remarks) You lost to Leicester because Lambert blew it, you had the best chance ever of getting to Wembley and his team selection, because he was more concerned with the ManU game, was crap.
My point about Holt was that it was 7 days since his last game and 7 days before the next one, so why rest him?,you have another 3 points to go for this weekend, would Lambert have wanted him to play 3 days after and 4 days before a league game ?.

we lost to leicester because they outplayed us on the day. did you happen to see our team sheet on the day? every single one of those players were good enough to beat the opposition on the day but we lost because they played well and we didn't. thats cup football! we will have plenty of other chances of getting to wembley - i'm pretty sure you're allowed to play in the fa cup every year if you're a member of the english league. and its true, the most important thing this season is how much money we can make so as to give us an even better base for next season so that we can stay up once more. finishing as high up the league as we can is worth potentially five times more than lifting the cup, let alone going one or two rounds further. you're point regarding holt's rest periods is idiotic!! lambert has been begging england to pick him all week!

Seem to have upset a few people, so I, Monarch, King of Spain do solemly swear with hand on family bible, that is so old that it has eyewitness accounts of Grant Holts predessors holding back the Red sea and making cripples walk, will only ever post on this board again in Praise of Norwich City Football Club, it's supporters, management and all things holier than the rest of the football world.

    Hows that?.

i don't think anyone minds if you post on here 'moan'arch, its just that most of your posts contain snide remarks and are normally total tosh, such as the ones above re: the cup game and lambert. it does seem you only post when we lose so you can have a dig at something lambert has done so its no real surprise when your posts get laughed off

still on england, just noticed scott parker has been given the captaincy. seems yet another odd decision to me from pearce. i'd have given it to hart but if not a younger player then surely gerrard would be the answer.

I would imagine Pearce might not be picking Gerrard after playing 120 minutes on Sunday. I can't believe Parker is the long-term answer to our captaincy.

In any case, why does the media make such a big flippin' fuss about who is captain? Who really gives a toss, apart from the players that might pull on the armband?
