Holt currently has a greater percentage of the vote than Welbeck, Sturridge, Campbell and Defoe combined!

    44%!

i dont think they care. its not an official poll, its a headline generator for them. The link on their site is 'holt for england?' suggesting they already reckon his story is the one to focus on. Anything that lets them do that more easily is good, even an unofficial poll.

I think we should just drop the whole England squad and play Holt on his own. Ronaldo, Iniesta and others wouldn't stand a chance at the Euros!

sadly the rules state you can only field 11 men. No mention of fielding a GOD.

Let's face it we couldn't have done much worse than the eyetie Tommy Cooper lookalike.

The problem for Holt is really his age rather than ability.

To my mind the real question is why Ruddy isn't getting a call as he is young and arguably the second or third ranked English keeper around at the moment.

Nailed it, Supers! That's what the English dressing room needs, a bit of mirth and banter, so when they lose heavily to the Dutch they won't take it so badly <ok>

It makes even more sense now, Pearce <grr>

i do not believe it is his age. kevin davies & bobby zamora both got called up in their 30s for their first cap. it is purely down to image and club bias, same with the swansea lads. move norwich to london and he'd get in.

And what an impact those two had right Supers? What a great argument for a Holt call up.

<doh> but you think connor wickham is a better option! seriously yorkie, how bitter can you be?

kevin davies played for 15 minutes for england.

bobby zamora has actually done pretty well for england, better than the likes of carlton cole or emile heskey (in his later days) produced.

none of us are saying that holt is good enough to win england anything, we are all saying that he shouldn't have been overlooked for players who aren't playing as well as him. is it really that difficult to understand?

davies and zamaora both got in because they were playing well for their club - if they weren't good enough thats fine, you move on to find new players but by not even giving him an opportunity, you will never know.

i get the feeling that you are terrified that if he did get in he'd stay in.

    you've got the fear.

I do wonder sometimes whether Ipswich are where they are because of their constant negative attitudes all over the shop have rubbed off on the team and staff. How anyone can deny Ruddy and Holt deserve a call up based on their performance alone. If these were Ipswich players (God forbid) you would be spitting feathers at their exclusion, or maybe you wouldn't as you may go down the selfish don't want them playing international football, IDK!

to be fair rich, at least yorkie acknowledges ruddy's omission. however, his blatant bias against holt is very transparent <ok>

i remember calling for marcus stewart and richard wright to get call ups a decade or so ago based on form. the fact they played for ipswich was annoying but didn't stop me thinking they should be called up!

steve morrison was on talkshite this morning, talking about our season - a few cliches were used there by him and Brazil/Irani - the Wales game tonight obviously, and was asked if Holty had a chance for England. The profile is being raised!

and Morro didn't sound pissed off!¬

All anyone is really saying is for Christ's sake, give them both a chance at this level. (It is, after all a 'friendly') If they get found out, c'est la vie, Pearce or (hopefully <yikes>) his successor will move on and give somebody else a shot.

10 goals/numerous class saves against some of the best players in the world
surely deserves a modicum of recognition - I think that's basically what we're all saying!
