Highest cross completion rate and 7 goals. On top of that he leaves out the likes of Oxlade Chambalain and Dyer. Pearce is an absolute melter accuse me of being pessimistic, negative and miserable but I'm not impressed with him or the team his picked.
I thought to myself today is it money? are the lucrative sponsorship deals that follow these "types of player" pressures on team selection? i.e. england have a new shirt they are trying to flog and they want the south-east asians watching to see theo walcott wearing it, regardless of how **** he plays. Pearce is a yes man, I never EVER thought i'd see the player that Pearce was pushed around like this. Completely Sold out, what a pity.
Yeah I had just finished doing some work and had another scan of the England squad. Carson and Green's names in particular stuck out like a sore thumb and I just thought 'this is ridiculous'. I was paying a complement but as usual the focus of this thread became Grant Holt and not John Ruddy, so perhaps it's not surprising he's been overlooked.
Don't be sorry at all. I think I was happier under Cappello, and thats saying something. Leaving out the players you've mentioned is nothing short of a disgrace, shows a complete lack of football understanding. I never usually get this mad but it's really done my nut in!
Here's a chance to vote for the strikers for the Euros. Not that it will do much good, of course And NO Hampy, Wickham is not on the list http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...kers-should-England-start-Euro-2012-with.html
Hart, Ruddy, Green Richards, Naughton Lescott, Caulker, Cahill, Jones, Smalling Cole, Baines Barry, Parker, Gerrard, Milner, Carrick, Ox-Chamberlain, N Dyer, Pilkington, Young Sturridge, Welbeck, Graham, Holt, This would have been my squad, After the injuries that have happend!
Yorkie actually makes a decent point there (for once). Ruddy arguably should be more of a shoe-in than Holt, and yet 90% of City talk is about Holt. Real shame, and I've been guilty of it too.
the only reason I'vee raged about Holt more recently is because the spot for him is just sitting there gaping in the england squad. It would be the easiest thing in the world to fill it. ruddy is certainly more justified of an england position and it's far more scandalous that he isn't in the squad. However, the two backup keepers in there at the minute will stick to that squad like frigging barnacles. I will continue to plead his case and I'm not sure how much longer they can ignore him.
Fair play about what you said about Ruddy in your original post and the current goalkeeper options it's absolutely crazy if you ask me, I think even Frank Fieldings ahead of Ruddy too! Beefy - I can see Pearce being a reincarnation of Ron Manager and Mike Bassett. The massive problem with English football is the dinosaurs who hold high positions at the FA and even Prince William is the president what the ****s the deal with that? Let's get some proper footballing brains in there people who know the system from the grassroots to premier league clubs.
thing is, there is absolutely no debate to be had about ruddy - he should be in the squad 100% and should have been in the last one too. holt is a close run thing, therefore will create more debate. i can live with the fact holt didn't get in but ruddy's exclusion is an abomination! ICHB's england squad looks a million times more refreshing doesn't it? i'd say thats an exciting and youthful looking set up with potential and experience as well, good balance to it and contains plenty of the players currently playing at the top of their game. glad you included carrick too. he should be in. instead we have to watch stewart downing
I wasn't for one second having a go at any City fan for being more upset about Holt's omission from the squad. Its perfectly natural for us to act this way - after all he is our captain and leader and has been with us since that dark day in August 2009. Ruddy has been superb recently and does deserve his spot more than Holt, but as you say, the three named will not be dropped from the squad anytime soon.
It's a disgrace isn't it. I mean Carson!!?? Green??!! It keeps me awake at night, it's a complete disgrace.
my mate just text me to say that pearce wants, wait for it... james milner as england captain. don;t know if its true but that would just about sum up how lost the man is in this job
I sort of get Green being in the squad, as at least he is playing in England. I wonder how many times Ray Clemence or whoever has gone out to Turkey to watch Carson though.
If had read that squad list when it was announced i would have been looking forward to the game tomorrow night, but as it happens i hope for englands sake we get a right old thumping from the dutch
