    From the Daily mirror.
"Blackpool made an astonishing record profit of £20.9million for hitting the jackpot and reaching the Premier League.

The figures emerged yesterday and although Ian Holloway and his men were eventually relegated, the club is awash with money.

The Seasiders turnover went up from £9.4m to £51.7m over their season in the top flight, probably the most significant change any club has ever gone through.

And although Holloway was left to rue the narrow margin of failure, his money men are rubbing their hands at the bottom line."

Those figures also don't include the sale of Charlie Adam and other departures, or the £48 million parachute payments over the next four years.
Ok so there's bound to be some differences between the two clubs, but Blackpool's financial success from the Prem. really highlights how our inept and amateurish owners threw away the legacy we should be using now.

Now thats a surpise....NOT. Just goes to show that the PL and even relegation does not mean that things get tough. We would have been in a similar position with better people in charge Especuially during the 2nd PL season.

Precisely, with 2 seasons just imagine the amount we could have come back down with, but at the same time are we better off for it as we're now in control by some very sensible business brains with the Allams?

isn't it comparing apples with oranges though? We had a huge debt before we even went into the Prem and then spent another fortune on the gamble that kept us there for another season. It's also not clear how much of Blackpool's money is 'owed' out rather than committed to the Club.

Can you imagine the outcry if at the time we'd taken the money and ran as some of us wanted?

Make me want for us to become a "yo-yo" club for a bit if we could!

We football supporters get emotional about the limited effect of player signings and manager signings, but when a club is taken over we usually believe all the hype that the new owners will know what they're doing and good times are around the corner.
It's a shame we don't have more control over who gets their hands on our clubs because one bad owner can set a club's fortunes back for decades or worse.
Even considering we achieved our highest level under Bartlett and Duffen I think their overall contribution to Hull City was damaging and Adam Pearson's judgement to sell the club to them in the first place is also open to criticism.

I'm just glad all the bad stuff is in the past now and prefer to remember Brownie for his positive achievements, as for Duffen, I never liked him even when he was pretending to do a good job for us- just another shady business guy associated with our club, there's been quite a few of them over the years.

It wasn't Adam Pearson's decision to make.

Not sure what you mean? I thought at the time AP said he decided to sell the club to Duffen and Bartlett because they were more capable of pumping in the type of investment required to get us into the Prem.

It wasn't Adam Pearson who owned the club, he was a front man(who did actually run the club) and a minority shareholder, he had to sell the club because Peter Wilkinson wanted his money out to try and and beat Bates to the purchase of Leeds United.

Yeah, much better to have a convicted rapist and shady eastern european type running your club.

Peter Wilkinson missed that boat as Bates sailed into office with TWS.

At least we have the Allams now, the best owners we've ever had (fingers crossed)

    Spot on.

Adam Pearson has built a very good cv football finance wise.

If we ever learn the truth about Bartlett and Duffen, I think it will be very interesting reading. The title could be " How We spent a million a week"

I should have said the best owners that I can remember, can't comment on the Needlers as it was before my time.

Blackpool were involved in high-profile disagreements with players over bonuses last season. Charlie Adam, captain during the Premier League year, took his employers to a tribunal to force the payment of a £25,000 bonus that should have kicked in when Blackpool guaranteed their Championship status in 2009-10.

Other debts to chairman and associates amount to £22 mill plus.

The club's accounts, filed at Companies House, reveal that club directors were paid £11,067,554, and that the best-paid director, now revealed to be Oyston, received £11m.

That remuneration smashes every pay record for a non-player in English football and puts Blackpool's majority shareholder among the global game's highest earners for a single season, whether it is players, managers or club executives.

The sum equates to earnings of £211,538 a week and only Wayne Rooney, understood to be on a basic deal worth around £200,000 a week at Manchester United, plus some players at Manchester City, currently come anywhere close in the Premier League - the world's richest league.

But while Rooney won the title with United last season, Oyston, worth an estimated £80m last year, was rewarded with his bumper pay packet despite the club being relegated.
