i gave up half way through. has he become the Theo walcott of our team, receiving unfair criticism? it's an odd one, hope it's just poor form and he'll come good near the end of the sesaon
Morrison is a good player with a fair amount of ability. He is not the finished article and needs to work on his one-on-ones but if he was brilliant at everything then realistically he would not have joined us in the Summer. Looking forward I can see a couple of options: firstly he knuckles down and gets with the program or secondly he doesn't improve his attitude and workrate and he is shipped out in the summer. I would not be at all be surprised for him to be the one leaving if we are seriously looking at the likes of Rhodes and as discussed in an earlier thread there is no point brining players in who are not considerably better than those we already have in place.
holtmania, as is usually the case, has called it spot on. morison is not playing very well at the moment. shock horror! hold the press!! footballer goes through a dip in form!!! honestly, i've heard and read so much garbage about the guy the last few weeks, from totally untrue rumours to complete over reactions about his ability. he's a very good player who is struggling at the moment - get behind him and give him some support. what is the point of lambasting him? how will that even help? he's clearly a quiet character on the pitch although he seems different off it but people have different characteristics and mannerisms and just cos he looks a bit sluggish or grumpy doesn't actually mean he is! if his form continues to be below par then he'll quite rightly be shown the door but we are absolutely nowhere near that stage yet. he's still scored 9 goals this season and hasn't been great the last couple of months - thats as good an indicator of ability as you can get. he's not the finished article by any means - but then he was in the non-league four years ago so what do you expect?!
Dip in form, plain for all to see. But when (to be fair) a 'bit-part' player such as Wilbrahamovic gets the nod ahead of a 9 goal striker you do have to wonder if there's something more than meets the eye. I don't care who plays/scores/performs every week as long as the team prosper and benefit, but if there is an attitude problem - which does happen on occasions, they're all human after all, which could be detrimental to the team Lambert ethos, then it could be potentially damaging to all the good things NCFC have shown in the last three years.
and there is nothing wrong with lambert dumping him on his backside for a few weeks. wilbrahimovic has been unbelievably patient and deserves a few games here and there if he's performing on the pitch and in training. naturally some players will throw their toys out of the pram if they lose their place - its frustrating if you lose your form and its hard to get back, but thats where the manager will come into play, tick him off and try and build his confidence again. morison to me has fragile confidence. lambert would always put his arm round him when he'd come off the pitch - he won't do that with holt or ward because he knows their not the sort of character that needs that arm around the shoulder.
It's no different to when holt started sluggish at the beginning of the season and when martin came on against man u and holt was an unused sub people started to question. 6 months later most have completely forgotten about that! In a way this is no different with wilbs coming on Sunday instead of moro....
Not too worried Jackson had a poor run of form last year well quite a long run but look how he bounced back and PL new that the time was right next thing you know he is integral to our team. I think thats the way lambert works makes players seem like they're integral to the team and gets the best out of them it just so happens that holt is the man at the moment and Lambert will know Morison can and will come good because he has proved how good he was earlier in the season.
Can't it be renamed. Anyone would think the guy has gone completely. PL paid the highest amount he has spent on a player during his tenure at NCFC on Morison so he saw something. And we all have seen something. I hope he does sulk and throw tantrums. He has a bit of spirit then. Rather than sitting on his arse picking up his wages.
agree. its basically just a big juggling act for lambert but thankfully he's one of the best jugglers around i think this issue highlights how few problems we have at the club at the moment. this is such a small matter really yet its been hyped up by some fans to be something bigger. its like people need something to go wrong so they can have a whinge and moan...
as we fans don't know what has/is happening behind the scenes at colney it is very hard to make an objective assessment of morro. all we have to go on is his apparent attitude sitting on the bench or on the field, and that seems very different from earlier in the season. this leads to much conjecture and rumours posted on these boards which may very well be well wide of the mark. to sum up, we don't know what is going on but we are right to be concerned as we now have a player that appears well below par.
We´ve always heard from all sorts of sources (so there´s no reason to doubt it) of PL´s man-management qualities, so when a player goes through a sticky patch, which is what this seems to be, I´m sure he´s the right man to pull him through. Interesting though that Morison showed similar signs when at Millwall, obviously just part of his make-up, he´ll need the right sort of encouragement and support from us and from PL, but I´m in no doubt he´ll soon be back amongst the goals again. One bad patch doesn´t make a bad player.
Just a quick observation is it me or does Morison remind you of a Serbian war criminal? Anyway back to the original topic I think Lamberts resting him, his in the plans I just think Holt is a too stronger player at the moment, even though they've both proved they can score goals whilst being on the pitch in the same 11, Lambo wants that bit of pace tactically hence why Jackson is in there who has seized the opportunity, my money was on a Holt Vaughan partnership at the start of the season but Jackson has impressed me with some of his performances.
I started a thread about Morison (that went a bit off thread) that suggested his dip was due to that we do not play the right formation for him. He is better as the lone striker. So against Leicester we play 4 4 2 and he does not link up well, ends up out wide...etc and he gets criticised unfairly , although he does not help himself body language wise. We play Man Utd and go 4 4 2 with Holt , which is right, but I do think it would have been interesting what would have happened if Morison was in the box for the 12 first half crosses we got in?
