http://blogs.soccernet.com/celtic/archives/2012/02/are_celtic_really_being_blamed.php? Interesting points from Muirhead, although I suspect he'll say anything in his blogs to get a reaction.
He suggest that the Celtic ticket money should go to the other teams. How would that work? The money would have to go into Rangers account first no matter what. That's the system that is in place. For me it's a bit of a **** move from Celtic but in business sense it's logical. I wouldn't be paying bills to a company in administration one second earlier than I had to. Why should Celtic?
Wasn't it someone commenting on the blog who said pay the money to other teams? Perhaps with some irony? And yeah, paying bills to a company in administration only when you have to is sound business sense. Pay for a service and then the company might liquidate before rendering the service. Your money is gone for nowt. Having said that, ye's reneged on the deal. Lock oot.
Sorry it was TV money he said to withhold, but how could the SPL do that unless there is a precedent or some rule that says they it would be allowed. Celtic apparently made a verbal agreement with Craig Whyte when Rangers weren't being run by the administrators. The minute Rangers called them in the only sane option in terms of running a business is not to hand over £300K any earlier than the rules state.
"I feel very sorry for Airdrie and their supporters but we're running a business. We have given them repeated warnings and felt they were playing on our good nature. I apologise to Airdrie's supporters but something had to be done about this debt. Business is business."
I don't think Celtic made any agreement with Rangers re tickets. if my memory serves me right Mr WHyte came up with the money out of his own pocket, and said he would do the same to Celtic for the Ibrox fixture. Mr Whyte was widely lauded in the Scottish media for his generosity and for turning the tables on that Lawwell boy. They cannot get it both ways.
