Amazing run chase by India against Sri Lanka - 321 required off 40 overs and they're now only need 10 from 4 overs
Err 50 overs mate. 641-7 tells you everything you need to know about the deck and the ground - they make these ODI pitches so flat and bring the boundaries in 20 yards it becomes a joke for bowlers. Authorities bowing to what they believe the public want to see when anyone who knows anything about cricket will confirm the best games are the ones where runs come at a premium on wickets that are tough...
I have indeed Odddy. Single and a double with my other selection. Its a shame he is even running in a handicap off 110 tbh but lets hope he can get a win
Yep, point being that 321 in 37 overs shouldn't happen if the conditions were made fair for both batter and bowler Yours faithfully A very frustrated semi-retired seam bowler !!!
One from the downunder file. Australian fencer Pentiffic, goes around today at Leicester in the Novices' Chase over 2 miles 7. At one stage he was the early favourite for the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan, but suffered tendon injury pre-race. He was then shipped to the UK for stem cell treatment. After 2 years out of the game, he managed to win at his third race at Huntindon at a juicy 16-1. He then finished close third of 16, before a shocker last time. Blues And Twos was very scratchy at his first chase run, so must be taken on trust. But so too does Pentiffic after his last failure, but on his best behavior, he'd take some beating here. L. 16:00 Pentiffic.
Alright Cyc I backed Pentiffic when he was third at Cheltenham. A repeat of that effort is defs good enough to win today
Victorian Racing has just improved all prize money for the 2012/3 season. All Saturday meetings will now carry a minimum $680,000 in prize money. Sounds nice doesn't it?
Cyc: Pentiffic will need to jump well. Leicester fences have always been pretty stiff, but being placed at Cheltenham stands him in good stead?
Oddy, I take your point about paddock pictures before the first at Catterick. But doesn't the statistical freak lie in the fact that, for about half an hour, these 15 jockeys will increase North Yorkshire's population of fit young women by about 7500% ?
3.50 Catterick Rosairlie 12/1 Quite like the look of Micky Hammond's recently acquired 4 year old who makes her 2nd start over hurdles tomorrow after being primarily raced on the flat by Harry Dunlop until now. Despite being a maiden in 9 starts and rated 63 in that sphere, Rosairlie showed some rather useful form as a 2 year old that leads me to believe she was a little better than her form figures suggest. On her 2nd flat start, she was a staying on 4L 5th on her 2nd start at Leicester over 8f last year. She finished behind a lot of very talented horses that day including Saddler's Risk now rated 95, the foiled favourite for the St Leger in Sea Moon, Estourah now rated 83 and First Batallion winner off 74. Although its clear she will never be scaling the height of these rivals, I think it shows that she perhaps never lived up to her potential on the flat. After 9 unsuccessful starts up to 2m (stays at least 14f), Rosairlie made what I thought was a very encouraging debut over the minimum trip at Leicester back in December when an eye catching staying on 9L beaten 4th. She had a rough race and was bumped on a fair few occasions before being badly interfered with by Belleau falling. Although that seemed to knock her confidence and her jumping, she stuck to her task gamely and I think she definitely has a future in this sphere. The form of that race is ok, with the winner that day Schism winning well yesterday off a mark of 105 and with natural improvement I don't think she'll be too far away tomorrow. Rosairlie has changed ownership recently and is now with Micky Hammond as she tries to land a similar race to her debut. Tomorrow she takes on her elders and the opposite sex on similar ground as she is stepped up to 2m3f which looks certain to suit.Odds on jolly Star In Flight sets the standard with a handicap rating of 129 but with Rosairlie's allowances, coupled with Joe Colliver's claim, her racing weight is 31lb lower him and based on Schism's effort yesterday she shouldn't be too far away from those rivals. Although I was expecting a little bigger than 12s, its not too bad with Aland Islands not in the race anymore.Trainer Micky Hammond isn't in too bad form at the moment and if building on her debut in this sphere, hopefully Joe Colliver can go very close on Rosairlie under a featherweight of 9-7
afternoon folks-keeping the powder dry for chelts-Does anyone know if pricewise has a selection up today? What do people think if Paddy power's offer to refund bets if SS wins;Peddlars or Al Ferof, gotta be peddlars for me!!!
I think that's a really good offer Ste. I'd say it's the best they've ever offered actually. The Supreme is full of unexposed horses whereas, the Arkle, this year at least, seems to contain two or three potentially high class animals and SS has certainly been the best of them so far. On all known chasing form SS should win but if you want to take him on (like me) then that insurance is a lovely bonus.
Quel I believe boyle sports are doing an offer to refund bets if an irish horse wins the supreme which is decent so will be having a punt on cinders n ashses
Quel i know they really fancy Steps to freedom in J Harringthon yard but what worries me is the lack of a run;i think 10 of last 12 supreme winners have a had a run in the previous 40 odd days-He was supposed to run in the dundalk last week but was pulled out but there is a chance he might do a prep run after racing at lepstown this sunday-Who do you like in this?
Fat boys would say that, its a great game but needs concentration and patients something you wouldnt be able to do, as your OCD would also be a stumbling block
