Wooly - the reason the PP offer has been such big news is that they've taken on an odds on shot and a solid 6/4 fav in the last two years, running the same offer on a 6/1 shot will lose them credibility, I think they'll be thinking bigger....

Would they dare take on the Fly or Quevega? If they did full credit to them. PP are best price at the moment for HF..... they could do that and limit stakes for £50 per person or something?

It has to be a offer that sounds too good to be true and secrectly they love losing their specials as the free PR / advertising they get is worth alot more than the loss, thus why they are always first to pay out on bets before the result is certain.

To be fair to old Bino I actually thought he raced with the most 'zest' I've seen him do in the last 2 seasons in his last race and as I'm not sold on Zarkander at all I think Bino is the most likely bridesmaid behind the superstar hurlder we're currently fortunate to acclaim as our Champ ;)

I'd be pretty hopeful of a return if I was you Wooly <ok> Though have to say I'm pretty happy with my only 2 ante-post Cheltenham bets which were struck during last year's Festival...The first one is Hurricane Fly at 5-1 and the second one is Hurricane Fly at 4-1 ;)

According to RP it looks like Sprinter Sacre they're taking on - but max bet 100 quid - see here

"The Irish firm, renowned for eyecatching concessions on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival, will refund all losing wagers in the race up to a maximum of £100/€100 if hot-favourite Sprinter Sacre wins. They estimate the offer could cost them £2 million."

Max £100 ?
I'm sure the max wasn't in place in previous years - I assume they're trying to attract business ?
They're industry lowest 4/1 Al Ferof as well which isn't surprising - bit of a damp squib for me the offer this year....

They go 5s Al Ferof as far as I can see Grizzly <ok>
Not much else for them to take on first day though - I think they would be "crossing a line" in Ireland if they decided to take the Fly on <laugh>

OK - I take it back Oddy, I thought I saw 4s on Oddschecker last night.
I still think a better offer would have been to risk all Irish horses in the Supreme though I can see why they'd only want one horse running against them.
Still don't agree with the max bet though - I remember having my biggest ever losing bet on Dunguib a couple of years ago but covered it by backing Menorah with Paddys.....

I see what you mean, maybe they've had a bad year so need to limit their exposure <laugh>

Or is Paddy losing his balls?

I’m sure that Paddy Power have been buoyed by the defeats of the horses that they have taken on at the past couple of Festivals, on the opening day. Plus they are almost certainly aware of the combined facts that just one favourite has one the Arkle this century thus far and Mr Henderson has only won the Arkle once since the 1993 renewal. But taking on Sprinter Sacre is a very big call to me ands smacks of stupidity in my book. My regular readers will know how highly I rate him and can see no dangers whatsoever - well apart from the Geraghty lad taking the wrong course.

Plus no-one gets the better of Mr Henderson...

What price are they Ste ?
Best price 3s I think last night and one or two were 11/14.
Shocking market, 11/10, 3/1 and 5/1 with Cue Card and Menorah sitting behind them at 7/1 and 10/1 or thereabouts....

not sure the price grizzly cant access any betting sites in work but will check on lunch but i reckon its about 3s all right. I know SS gave Peddlars a hiding earlier in the year but McCain stated that there was a problem with the horse that day-We know he can get up the hill too and gave The fly a great race last year and is a better hurdler than Al ferof so think it is worth a punt with the PP offer.Cue card is an interesting alternative as well, wouldnt go near menorah though, dodgy jumping and yard not in form-me cant wait!

The limit last year was £200 but I can't remember before that.

If you wait until the final declarations you should be able to cover all horses for a guaranteed profit. I'll sort it so all my profit is on Peddlers Cross because, whilst Sprinter Sacre will be mighty hard to beat, Peddlers Cross is the only one I can see doing it. Plus the market is very very tight at the moment so the prices might well ease a little nearer the time. Anyhow, I doubt there is value in committing too soon.
