And why pray tell did you play these suicidal tactics ? Were they NOT to try to win the game ? Your tactics didn't work because we made them not work not the other way round. they worked for the first 10 minutes but for the remaining 80 they didn't. I don't think none of your lot when you were 0-2 up saying "these tactics are suicidal"
Come off it, mate. TV has every right to be pissed off and be on the edge when he is on the end of a late tackle like that. Like I said, he has had some serious injuries problems so his reaction was perfectly understandable. In the end, he did acknowledge Parker after he calmed down. What I do not like is that Parker is coming out as the good guy when he was the one that made the late tackle.
Sorry yes, you claimed that it was "studs up assault" and "on the ankle" both of which are wrong. You can understand why I might have thought you'd overreacted though, you compared Parker's challenge to two leg breaking lunges
tv only ignored him while he was in pain and getting sorted out by the med men .. once sorted he shook his hand ,,, if parker was really being sporty and showing class then he would have made the dangerous late lunge in the first place... perhaps feeling a bit tanned on his behind for the scoreline affected his sportsman ship until he regained his composure knowing he had no more part to play in his team debacle had something to do with it .. just a suggestion.
Then lets say you are playing football on a Sunday. The opposing midfielder - not adverse to throwing his studs in to tackles he cant possibly win with no regard for the opponent does your team mate in the first half. He says sorry - hmm, maybe fair enough. Second half he does the same to you, again with no hope of winning the ball and refusing to pull out of the challenge. he says sorry again. He wasnt sorry at all - if he was he would stop putting other players at risk by charging into tackles he cant win, and having no regard for the safety of an opponent. Actions speak a whole lot louder than faux apologies.
Sorry mate I disagree, I don't think Parker is the kind of person to intend damage and I think late tackles are perfectly acceptable if the person apologises for their actions. It's the decent thing to accept an apology for something accidental imo. Parker only looks like the good guy here because his apology was ignored. Parker was red carded and happily accepted it.
It's actually a battery, to give it its legal designation. It could also amount an offence under the Public Order Act, depending on the circumstances.
Sorry, but I was! I said on here, at the time, that we were fortunate to be 2-0 up and that if we carried on playing the way we were, it wouldn't last long. I think I actually phrased it as " if we don't wake up soon"
Ridiculous. Posting an honest opinion that's very easy to back up is just that. I'm sorry if your ego is too fragile to accept that. Why did we play suicidal tactics? No idea. Redknapp does it occasionally. He did the same against Stevenage, for example. As for bemoaning our manager's decisions when we were 2-0 up, I can honestly say that I was. We were conceding far too much possession and territory and it looked like a matter of time before we were going to concede. The substitutions at half-time were nonsensical, too. I've already explained why there were stupid, but I'll do so again, if you really want me to.
Parker chose the wrong time to try to shake TV's hand. He should've waited a minute then said his piece, not straight away. Common sense would say, go to TV, apologise, say it was unintentional, TV calms down a bit, wait for the physios to come on and aid TV, then try to shake his hand. Thats how I would've done it. If TV refused to shake my hand at that point then he's a knobber.
hoddle is god (in another life) .. wow what a retort ... i will put in down to needing a calculater when you play us but .... I took your suggestion and applied for and just got a job in a big tent based in London N17 as a clown .. im working with 11 other clowns and my new managers name is harry redknapp
Offences of that nature can also be applied to football matches. The football pitch is not beyond the law. I will tell you know it's only a matter of time before players of a certain ilk are jailed for assault. Obviously Parker's challenge doesnt fall into the assault category, because I dont think it was intentional, but still his refusal to even consider the safety of an opponent shoudl definitely not be lauded just because he offers his hand afterwards.
Are Arsenal fans on here really equating that Parker foul with a criminal offence? Give it a ****ing rest. Far worse, far less chance of getting the ball and absolutely no apology. Given your manger's disciplinary record, you lot really do take the piss.
Mods - I think this has run its course? My thread and happy to have it closed, just silly bickering now.
Only problem is you havent backed up anything. What I saw was Arsenal tearing Spurs apart, and they could do nothing about it (apart from cheat). The Lennon argument has to be the funniest - wasnt he also on the bench in your 5-0 win over Newcastle? He came on after 67 minutes when you were already 5-0 up. In fact wasnt the starting line up against Arsenal EXACTLY the same as for Newcastle???? You're talking crud - Arsenal spanked Spurs because they were superior all over the pitch on the day. end of.
