O.k. I didn't realise that, if that's the case. I assumed, as you would in the cicumstances, that he was checking what the linesman saw.
Whilst at the game i thought Dean was consulting the lineman but when you see it on TV you see the linesman rubbing his head and then Dean rubbing his head as he talks to the Arsenal players
PS isn't saying that it was an incorrect decision, just that you would have struggled to recover from the loss of your goalkeeper, had he been sent off.
You are missing the point - Arsenal were far superior to Spurs on the day, as Utd were far superior to Arsenal on the day
Sure, but you would have struggled if the ref decided to send off your entire team in the first minute. It would have really changed the game in our favour.
Yes, but that was never on the cards. Most pundits seem to think that the ref should've dismissed your goalkeeper, having made the decision to give the penalty.
Except it wasnt the goalkeeper that allegedly fouled him. Most pundits I have heard said Bale cheated. In a nice way of course... "was looking for it, went down too easy' etc.
I'm not saying that I agree with them. The foul was committed by Gibbs, which most people seem to have missed. Bale has started diving this season, but this wasn't one of those occasions, in my opinion. Arsenal fans moaning about it is ridiculous, though.
Gibbs didnt touch him either - but yes the 'foul' was given against Gibbs. i think Bale is being highlighted as he is doing it in every game now. Diving and feigning injury at the slightest touch - or no touch at all. He's not the only one, but he sure is becoming one of the biggest exponents of it in the PL.
Yes, he did. As I've already highlighted, you really shouldn't comment on players diving, either. If you celebrate the achievements of Robert Pires, then you have no right to suggest that diving's wrong.
By the same token you should not call Bale anything other than a cheat - you cant say its ok because another player did it.
I didn't say that it was ok, though. When he does dive, I do call it cheating. You may be a hypocrite, but I'm not.
I have had 24 hours to think about all of this, and we can now bring this thread to a close with the following summary:- 1. Arsenal hit a temporary vein of form yesterday, and trounced a complacent Spurs side. 2. Spurs will still finish above AFC this season. 3. AFC may well finish outside the top 4, too. There. I think we can all move on, now
I haven't condoned Pires' cheating. I am not even saying Bale is not a great player - but he is a cheat.
I think its another excuse - but I have to say its about as weak as I have seen. If one of your players had been wrongly sent off it would have changed the game!
