Blimey, I go away for a couple of nights and everyone has an absolute stinker of a weekend. So to all who have had a poor one I hope that Monday goes very quickly for you, and you all find that missing tenner in your coat pocket (that always makes me feel very happy)!!!
Morning all. Very overcast here and it looks like it could hammer it down any second! I hate mondays! i only have lectures at 11-12 and 3-4 so for the 3 hours in between i am stuck in Cambridge attempting to find somewhere to work. Why cant i just have 10-4, 3 days a week and get my degree done in half the time for half the cost?? I see Wealdstone made it to the FA Trophy Semi-finals at the expense of a local team for me, Cambridge Utd. They now face a 2-legged semi-final with Newport County. This is a wonderful achievement especially as Connor Smith, Tommy Hoban, and Britt Assombalonga have been involved in this achievement. Congrats to The Stones.
I wanted Wealdstone to draw the dirty tramps...I would have loved to see one of our loan players scoring the goal that knocked the scummers out. Still fingers crossed they get through and thrash them in the final instead...I think I would be tempted to go to that final
The problem with that is i want York to beat the Scum! However, it would be poetic if the Stones did. If it doesnt clash with a Watford Match i certainly would consider it.
If the final is between the team that used to hate us and the team we still hate, I too would be tempted. Am I right in thinking that Wealdstone are exempt from the rules on loan players that apply to clubs higher up the pyramid? Of course, I wouldn't dream of suggesting that we loan them half a dozen Championship players on one week emergency loans, I'm just curious.
I would consider it!! What better experience than the FA Trophy final. We have plenty of players spare and i would happily drive Iwelumo to the Vale. Surely he must be able to score against conference teams!!
Why do you bother disliking a public house team? The biggest rivals must be Stevenage Borough, MK Dons, QPR and Brentford. Then there is Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
sorry, i meant to correct that. When i first read it the website had shortened Newport County, so i mistook it for Notts. It is in fact Newport County over in Wales. My mistake.
Bought myself a new bike on Sat with my bonus - rode it for a short distance on the way home and going for a ride along the cycle track that runs from near my place along the south coast of the island this evening but unsurprisingly, it's raining. Not sure how far I'll get as it's a while since I've cycled and I've got to get used to the bike.
AK - They will all be rivals in a pure football sense, but when it comes to the filthy ones it's more basic...it's in the blood, you just cannot wash them away
When it comes to rivals, we dont have any Geographically atm. However, of Stevenage do manage to get promoted again they will be our closest. However, I agree with W_Y about the hatred of l*t0n being in the blood.
So that's why FIFA allow Berwick to play in Scotland - to help develop the game in England! It's all clear now!
I suppose this is why FC Vaduz plays in Switzerland League 2 FC Andorra plays in Catalunya League 2 Monaco plays in Ligue 1
Evening all Back from two weeks in Morocco - Rabat, Fes, the High Atlas, Sahara and Marrakech...stunning scenery, lovely food and very hospitable people. It seems we haven't done too well in my absence...and I forgot to post any predictions! Still, I've had a bit of sunshine (very cold at night though) and got nearly 300 pictures to edit. Mrs H hurt her knee and got wheelchair treatment back through Heathrow...saved on queueing but since we had to wait half an hour for it to arrive not much was gained!
A couple of other particularly interesting examples are TNS (their stadium is in England) and Doncaster Rovers (whose stadium is in Scotland). http://www.scotsman.com/scotland-on...akes_its_claim_to_scottish_heritage_1_2125780
I made a decision that at the end of this season I will stop making match threads. I have written them for a few years and it is time to let somebody else have a go. My last match will be Middlesbrough. I will keep the Nest running so you can not get rid of me easily.
