Many people on this board seem to delight in calling Grant Holt a cheat, for his so called diving antics, and the fact that he goes to ground so easily for such a big man. However this man has proven that he can score at all levels, and his goal on Sunday was a goal of some class. He has not started in all Norwich matches this season, the question is, if he became surplus to requirments, and presuming he had no qualms about moving here, would the critics on here change their tune, and welcome him. For me it would be a football decision, and he has the ability to help get us out of this division, surely it would be right to make an objective decision, and not one based on childish antics.
Only one Englishman has scored more Premier League goals than Holt this season, and as you say, he hasn't played every game. So, I doubt he will be "surplus to requirements" for quite some time.
No wind up, and have not lost my mind lancs. Holt would bring a lot to us, okay he is never going to win a hundred metre race, but as well as his goalscoring he creates chances for others, and his sheer physical strenth unnerves defenders, look what he did to us. If the great Denis Law can play for both Manchester clubs, surely Holt could do the same with two east anglian teams.
There are 3 reasons why people hate somebody else :- 1. They have something that you don't. 2. They remind you of something you hate about yourself. 3. They hurt you physically or psychologically. Which one is it for you boys?
i can honestly say you are the only ipswich fan i've seen on here who has judged holt objectively. if he played for ipswich he'd be pretty much every single fans favourite player. he is somebody any fan can relate to. he wears his heart on his sleeve, gives 100% every minute of the match, charismatic, exciting to watch, scores goals galore, scores tap ins, scores great goals, winds up opposing players, winds up opposing fans. he's a natural footballer and has more talent in him than he gets credit for. there is a video of his goals on youtube and although they are mainly from the lower leagues, some of the runs and finishes are top drawer. he is now showing his talent on the big stage. he is the talisman of norwich city and anyone from ipswich who says they wouldn't want holt or at least someone who plays the game like him in their current team is talking utter bullshit. but you can't have him!
err, i think you've missed the point of the thread... on a different note, what the hell was that bizarre banner all about at the brighton game? people getting their american express and their mastercards mixed up, as well as being total hypocrites if the actual idea behind the whole banner is what i thought it was! it wasn't really that clear
I wouldn't want to have a player like that at our club. It seems to work for them somehow and good luck to them. What would he be worth? Something like 5 million? I'd rather sign a Dos Santos for that kind of money
I missed the banner thing. God almighty what a cock up. I reckon it was ipswichcrazy.... American Express you're going to hell!! ;-)
What an odd thing to say, whyever not? You would prefer some sort of Tevez/Suarez type who threw hissy fits at the drop of a sombrero and disrupted the team.Holt would get you promotion but I think the real reason you don't want to entertain it is that it's not a realistic prospect.I will be honest I didn't think he would cut it in the top flight. How wrong can you be?
Not for that reason at all CT... players like that may have a place at clubs like Leeds, the old Wimbledon or indeed your own, but I'd rather see footballers who can play. He's scored a fair few goals and thats surprised us all, but none of them will feature on goal of the month, will they? Add into that that I don't like him and that he's worn that ghastly yellow and green and of course I don't want him anywhere near our club, thanks.
Clearly you haven't seen his goal yesterday, his goal against Everton, his goal at Stamford Bridge, his goal at Swansea and I could go on...
Of course i've seen those goals. It's hardly Robin Van Persie is it? And no Supers I haven't. I very sadly couldn't make it to either of the derbies last season and I don't make a habit of going to Carrow Road! Ive seen plenty of live games on the TV though. In the actual stadium, no never sadly.
do you really think you'll see someone as good as robin van persie in an ipswich shirt then? i think you have misunderstood the point of the article. truth seeker was asking a perfectly rational question but as he suggested might happen, it has ended up with snide remarks. i can't think of many better players who have cost less than half a million pounds (in todays money), can you? if he was up front for ipswich, even with your average team, i reckon you'd be about 8 places higher in the league, purely down to his presence.
Well that's clearly a wind up if you say that about the goal against Everton. If a Man City PrimmaDonna had scored it there would have been a major media orgasm that lasted a good fortnight.
he scores every type of goal going. left foot, right foot, headers, tap ins, volleys, long rangers, quick turns, one on ones... the full shebang!
