Maybe this was the players' sneaky way to get Harry to stay?

  2. You are free-fall, and there is still a crisis at your club. Playing a blinder in the NLD only masks the problems at your club. It will be business as usual next week. We're still in 3rd and have to pick ourselves up.

Oh, and yes, I am disappointed that we didn't win, gutted in fact.

A win for us against Liverpool and a loss for you against Man Utd will leave us four points behind you. There's a long way in this season to go yet.

And even with all our problems, we are still fourth, and we will see what happens next week, i sense more pie on your face.

  5. We are still the better team, the season's results prove that. We've had a dreadful game. Not nearly as bad as the 8-2 demolition you suffered at the hands of United, not by a long chalk. But, as you did after the United game, we will pick ourselves up.

You, on the other hand, instead of pretending to challenge for the title, as you have done in previous seasons, are now fighting for your CL survival, and you are in a very, very tough fight with Chelsea (who have got to be favourites for it), the Toon, and possibly also 'Pool, who are probably going to beat you next week.

Yes, there is still a lot to play for; and as gutted as I am with our spineless performance today, I remain confident that you will bottle it over the remaining fixtures, whereas we will pick up from where we left off against the Toon, and put this sorry episode down to a mere aberration.

In fact, we Spurs fans may look back on this result, at the end of the season, as the game that gave the players the kick up the arse they all needed to keep them pushing for glory, and we may well be thanking you, come May <ok>

Very inappropriate to compare todays game to our 8-2 demolition at United.

Our team was plagued with injures and suspension and also wasn't complete complete. (That game was before the deadline-day signings)

Today both teams were nearly at full-strength (you guys even had Ledley King, doesn't happen too often) and we outclassed you.

But I also reckon that Tottenham will pick themselves up, but obviously I hope this 5-2 acts like the Carling Cup final did for us last season.

Not sure Spurs will beat Man U. They have a very strong away record and Spurs have a poor record against Man U. Not the best game to try and pick yourself up from. Still, stranger things have happened. I think it might be a draw.

Not sure what happened to Spurs in the second half but Arsenal played like a team possessed. This is without a doubt our best performance this season. I hope we take this form forward for the rest of the season, its just a shame we only have 4th to play for....

We battered Spurs. No two ways about that. I was in shock when they somehow managed to go two up. Then we responded with some devastating football. The passing was quick and we created chances at will. Spurs got well and truly bossed. Special mention to Van Persie and the way he held the ball upfront with his skills. They could not get near him.

It's great to see a Gooner who has some perspective on all of this. They way things were going, even Jayram was talking positively about AFC, and that really freaked me out!

I don't feel at all confident about us beating United, but I do think we can afford to draw, and still remain favourites for 3rd, especially if you can only muster a draw away against 'Pool, who will be pumped up after their massive win against the mighty Cardiff.

As long as we don't play for a draw or try to contain them, which just allows them to dictate play - we did that in our first game and it backfired, but today it backfired spectacularly. I don't know why we decided to try and play the long game - something Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City prefer - instead of our usual game, not least because every time we do so we end up with a worse result than if we kept our nerve and played to our strengths.

  12. I always talk positively about us when we do positive things - and of course negatively when we do ****e things. Unfortunately there has been a lot more ****e this year to talk about.

Today though is all about the 5-2 and more importantly the way we played in the last hour. The scoreline really flattered Spurs.

I can't believe how bad we were today. We got everything wrong, almost from the start. The tactics of sitting deep after we got the first goal were completely wrong. The decision to play Kranjcar, instead of Lennon - which would have given more width to stretch a suspect defence - was completely wrong. Apart from all the tactical mistakes, you seemed to want it more than we did. That's just not acceptable, not in my book, anyway.

I think your gaffer made a mistake with not playing Lennon. If there ever was a weak point in our defense then Gibbs was certainly that. The fact that Wenger played Benny to cover Gibbs was clear to see. Lennon would have given Gibbs a lot of problems today....

Has anybody mentioned the dubious penalty? The ball was kicked forward - he couldn't get to it and starts falling over as he sees Chesney advancing.
Classy professional cheating is what it was.

I'm still undecided as to whether there was contact, or not. Yes, Bale went down easily, but then so would many players in that situation. You have to remember that the Ref doesn't have the benefit of endless slow- motion replays, he has to make a decision on what he sees at that moment. From his point of view, it probably looked a penalty.

Yeah, yeah, usual bollocks. If it's one of our players it's cheating, if it's one of yours, the ref made the only decision he could! <doh>

The only thing it's affected is your GD by -1 and ours by +1. No-one got carded (Gibbs or Sczenzy) which was the bizarre thing, so I guess you could say at least there was no further punishment.

And yes, before I press 'Reply' - it was a bit iffy at best, but as LDL said, at pace, it probably doesn't take much to lose balance.

All said and done, dive or no dive, Bale isn't the first and he certainly won't be the last.

    :(

Credit to Arsenal, they definitely outplayed us and created a good amount chances even up to when we took a two goal lead(which we didn't deserve).

I didn't expect either side to have a great game but Walker spent a lot of the second half injured, having been a late doubt before the game and King looked totally out of sorts, whether that was a rumoured late injury or a rare bad day at the office for him.

Superb goal from RVP though, there's not been many better this season.
