Derry City are refused entry to Europa League by Uefa

Derry City have been refused entry into next season's Europa League competition by Uefa.

The European football governing body has taken the decision because the club went into liquidation just over two years ago.

That led to a European ban for three years and this is the final year of the Candystripes' suspension.

The re-formed club, with support from the FAI, asked for the rule to be relaxed but Uefa refused to relent.

On paper, Derry's third-place finish in last year's Airtricity League Premier Division should have earned them a Europa League spot.

Derry got Shelbournes CL spot in 07/08 when they got fired out of the league.

Fair is fair I guess. A lot of Derry fans forgot about the ban.

In more fun news, they got drawn against Linfield in the IRA TV sports cup.

Of course this story has no relevance to Rangers supporters. Should Rangers cease to exist, they would be dead and that would be that.
Rangers fens are proud of their "loyal" moniker and one of the most disloyal acts I can think of would be to support a different football team.
Any supporters of a new football club would very obviously not have been "real" supporters of Rangers if they can so readily accept a replacement.

A great Scotch story of loyalty is that of Greyfriars Bobby, a dog who lamented his masters passing until he himself passed. Any Rangers supporter prepared to support a new team should be considered lower than a dog.......from Edinburgh.

wee t i resent your insinuation that I would stoop as low as Rangers and break the law.
It is bad enough that two consecutive owners, not only break the law but are clearly seen as
doing so. Yet we have half wits like yourself t who has spent years goading, sneering and making
snide remarks about the "wonderful" Rangers and their great team against the "pitiful" Celtic team.
I think it is high time t that you climbed down from your big white horse and apologised to your Celtic
forum friends, for the cheating and stealing of the club, and for your gloating based on Rangers stealing.
