Somebody on Twitter said they spoke to Bassini and we spent 2 million more than budgeted for on players. Not sure how... No wonder Sordell was sold if true!
That seems really strange unless you are taking wages etc into account, because SD stated that he had only had £1m to spend on players.
Perhaps Bassini meant that we made £2m less profit on player trading than he had hoped. I'm confident that it was "the club's" intention to sell Mariappa, if so £2m would have been a sensibly conservative estimate. Perhaps the media have underestimated the amount of money we've spent on players over the past year? Or perhaps that person on Twitter has never met Bassini and made the entire thing up?
I'm leaning towards my first suggestion. I'd take "£2m overspent on player budget" and "£2m overspent on playing budget" to mean two very different things.

I dont H. He made one mistake, so be it. He had not played all season so was bound to be rusty. He said to me after the game that he thought the ball would hang in the air for longer. Which tbf, it did the rest of the game. He knows what he did wrong, he admits his mistake and feels responsible for the bad outcome. Im sure he will be back with a vengeance next week.
I get that, but it was crucial we had someone match ready against Southampton. Seems a bit of a gamble to put someone between the sticks who isn't ready...
Then why get him at all?? We could afford to loose the Saints game, however, we have to get something from Burnley, and Coventry. Between them we have West Ham and Derby. Would it not be a gamble there too?? So when does he play? In the crucial 6-pointers? Or the games like Saints and WH which we can afford to throw???
i don't think we can afford to throw any games, and if he's that not ready, i wouldn't have brought him at all...
Then we should stick with a keeper who clearly needs a rest and promote one of two who clearly are not ready? Loach needs a mentor and a rest, Tomasz will be that, and im certain he will show his worth on Saturday.
i hope so. i was so confident til that first goal, despite being a huge Loach sympathiser. After that, i had to wonder why we'd bothered changing anything, exept that Scott was coming in for too much abuse to make it comfortable, even though he's improved greatly this season, and doesn't deserve what he gets. I still feel very sorry for him., especially now!
I agree. I am a Loach fan, but i recognise that he must have been tired and needs someone to help him out. I spoke to him too, and said the abuse he got was uncalled for. He is a quality keeper and i shook his hand.
he is a quality keeper who has been treated incredibly poorly by 'fans' of the club. I won't be surprised to see him go in the summer, whether the club wants to sell him or not...and i wouldn't blame him. And this probably won't have helped his mindset tbh
Rookery Mike ‏ @RookeryMike This will be great!! He said he was looking forward to it on saturday. But he is expecting to only get 30mins. Just to see how he does.
